Production

The film is based on the novel Stupido by Andrea Cotti. ^[1] was produced by Overlook Production and Rai Cinema. ^{[2] [3]} Principal photography started on 29 September 2008 in Taranto, Apulia. ^[2] It had a budget of 1.3 million euros. ^[4]

Release

The film premiered at the 4th Rome Film Festival, in the Alice nella Città sidebar. ^[3] It was released in Italian cinemas on 15 November 2009. ^[4]

Reception

Variety's critic Jay Weissberg wrote: "A wired performance by newcomer Giulio Beranek and a feel for locale keep Alessandro Di Robilant's Little Sea afloat when unconvincing plot elements threaten to drench the narrative". ^[5]
