The album was recorded at the Keynote, Tokyo, in 1999. [1] The quartet are tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander, pianist Harold Mabern, bassist Nat Reeves, and drummer Joe Farnsworth. [2] "In the Still of the Night" is played uptempo, as is "The Bee Hive". [1]
Harold Mabern, Jr. is an American jazz pianist and composer, principally in the hard bop, post-bop, and soul jazz fields. He is described in The Penguin Guide to Jazz Recordings as "one of the great post-bop pianists".
Nat Reeves is an American jazz bassist. He resides in Hartford, Connecticut, and teaches at The Hartt School of the University of Hartford. He also performs internationally with a number of jazz artists.
Joseph Allen Farnsworth is an American jazz drummer.
