It runs from Węgliniec via Niesky, Hoyerswerda, Falkenberg (Elster) and Wittenberg to Roßlau (Elbe). The line is sometimes called the Niederschlesische Gütermagistrale because it provides a direct connection from the province of Lower Silesia to Central Germany.
