King's College London is a public research university located in London,England. King's was established by royal charter in 1829 under the patronage of King George IV and the Duke of Wellington. In 1836,King's became one of the two founding colleges of the University of London. It is one of the oldest university-level institutions in England. In the late 20th century,King's grew through a series of mergers,including with Queen Elizabeth College and Chelsea College of Science and Technology,the Institute of Psychiatry,the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals and the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery.

Nikolas Rose is a British sociologist and social theorist. Danuta Elizabeth Wasserman is a professor of psychiatry and suicidology at Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. She is a public mental health and medical educator. She is currently the President of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA).
Tolani Asuni,was a Nigerian medical doctor and psychiatrist. Asuni was one of the first indigenous psychiatrists in Nigeria and is credited with promoting mental health in Africa. He was educated in Nigeria and the West and returned to Nigeria for his professional life. Asuni became the foundation professor of psychiatry at University College Hospital Ibadan where he worked from 1957 to 1976 as the Medical Superintendent of Aro Medical Hospital. From 1979 to 1984,he was the Director of the United Nations Social Defence Research Institute in Rome,Italy. Asuni was a suicidologist and forensic psychiatrist. His 1975 textbook,Mental Health and Disease in Africa,was used for many years by undergraduates and graduate students of mental health. Asuni helped to improve global understanding of mental health in Africa and abroad and he promoted the universality of mental health conditions.
Melanie Amna Abas is a British psychiatric epidemiologist who is Professor of Global Mental Health at the Institute of Psychiatry,Psychology and Neuroscience. She is a consultant psychiatrist at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust,co-director of the NIHR Global Health Research Group African Youth in Mind,and leads the National Institutes of Health TENDAI Clinical Trial.
Nicola Townsend Fear is a British epidemiologist who is a professor and Chair of Epidemiology at King's College London. She is co-director of the Forces in Mind Trust Research Centre and director of the King's Centre for Military Health Research. Her research looks at the impact of military service on families. She was appointed a CBE in the 2025 New Year Honours.
