Lonely People is the second EP by Orla Gartland.

Reception

Earmilk commented about the title track, "Like all of her music, 'Lonely People' comes directly from the heart ... the sincerity of her singing ... continues to be Gartland's most endearing quality." [1] Wonderland magazine selected it as a Track of the Week on 1 December 2014. [2] When the Gramophone Rings said that Gartland "makes it apparent she has a lot more to give". [3] Fortitude Magazine individually reviewed each song on the EP and wrote that Gartland "provides a wonderful EP with an excellent vocal performance and great songwriting". [4] Digital Spy recommended "Wispers" as a song "you need to hear". [5]

On 28 December 2014 Gartland, was interviewed on Weekend Breakfast With Stephen Byrne broadcast nationally in Ireland on RTÉ 2fm. He played two tracks from the EP, "Lonely People" and "Souvenirs". [6]

Music videos

On 30 November 2014, Gartland released a video of the title track, "Lonely People". It is a compilation of video clips Gartland requested from fans. [7] On 19 December 2014, Gartland released a video of an acoustic performance of the third track, "Whispers". It was filmed in the YouTube Creative Space at Google in London. On 27 December 2014, Gartland released a video of "Souvenirs" which is set to classic 1990s-era computer graphics. On 13 January 2015, Gartland released a music video of "Whispers" which was produced by SteamyintheCity Creator Studio in Los Angeles.

Tour

Gartland toured in support of the Lonely People EP in February 2015, headlining ten shows in the UK and Ireland [8] and seven shows in the US and Canada in March 2015, her first tour in North America.

Breakfast with Hector was a breakfast radio programme on RTÉ 2fm in Ireland, presented by Hector Ó hEochagáin from 4 October 2010. It was broadcast at 7:00–9:00 am each weekday from Galway. It was confirmed on 18 December 2013 that Ó hEochagáin would be leaving the show and returning to TV work. The last show was broadcast on Friday, 20 December 2013. The last show ended with I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For by U2.

<i>Chris and Ciara</i>

Chris and Ciara, formerly titled Bottom of the Barrel, is an Irish radio show on RTÉ 2fm hosted by Chris Greene and Ciara King. It is broadcast on Saturday and Sunday starting at 11am, and consists of contemporary hits and comedic pop culture-focused talk segments. The show features film and celebrity news quizzes and a "Rap Off" in which Greene and King compete, as well as interviews and guests such as 2fm's Emma Power and DJ Mo K, Brian M. Lloyd from entertainment.ie, Blindboy Boatclub of The Rubberbandits, and the self-styled dating expert the Galway Player. King reads from her teenage diary every Wednesday, and the presenters often read text messages and tweets sent by listeners.

Pearse McGloughlin is a songwriter and artist from Sligo, Ireland. He has released five studio albums; Busy Whisper (2009), In Movement (2012) and Idiot Songs (2013) which was a concept album based on Fyodor Dostoevsky's 'The Idiot' in collaboration with composer Justin Grounds. McGloughlin draws on literary and philosophical influences in his work. His aesthetic is described as atmospheric or ethereal. McGloughlin released 'The Soft Animal' in 2016 under the artist name of 'Nocturnes'. ‘The Rest’ was released in 2020.

The RTÉ 2fm Breakfast Show is the flagship show on RTÉ 2fm. Since 31 May 2021, it has been hosted by Doireann Garrihy, Donncha O'Callaghan and Carl Mullan under the banner of 2FM Breakfast with Doireann, Donncha and Carl.

Ireland originally planned to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "Story of My Life", performed by Lesley Roy and written by herself, Catt Gravitt, Robert Marvin, and Tom Shapiro. The song and the singer were internally selected on 5 March 2020 by the Irish broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) to represent the nation at the 2020 contest in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Europe, the contest was cancelled.

Percy Chamburuka, known professionally as Jafaris, is a Zimbabwean-born Irish rapper, singer and songwriter. He began his career as an actor in the comedy-drama film Sing Street (2016), before making his professional solo musical debut with the EP Velvet Cake (2017). Jafaris rose to prominence with his debut studio album Stride (2019), which was later nominated for the Choice Music Prize.

Carl Mullan is an Irish television and radio presenter who is currently co-hosting The RTÉ 2fm Breakfast Show with Doireann Garrihy and Donncha O'Callaghan.
