Long Days, Black Night: The Alternative Anthology is a compilation album by the English rock band Magnum. It was released in 2002 by Sanctuary Records.

This album contains material from Kingdom of Madness , Magnum II , Marauder , Chase The Dragon , The Eleventh Hour , Invasion Live , On A Storyteller's Night , Stronghold , Rock Art , Keeping The Nite Light Burning and Archive .

At the time of its release, the only rarities this compilation offered were four tracks performed on the BBC Friday Rock Show session on 27 May 1983. The recording features Robin George on rhythm guitar. The session was later reissued on The Eleventh Hour in 2005 with the Sanctuary Records remastered and expanded series.

Chase the Dragon is the third studio album by English rock band Magnum. It was released in 1982 on Jet Records. Overseen by the Kansas producer Jeff Glixman, Chase the Dragon was the first recorded appearance by the new keyboard player Mark Stanway, although he had made his live debut at Magnum's appearance at the Reading Festival in 1980. The album was recorded over 13 days at Town House Studios in London, and the following year Tony Clarkin flew to Axis Studios in Atlanta to mix it. However, there was a two-year delay before the album's release in 1982. Many of the tracks have remained in Magnum's live set for many years, including "Soldier of the Line", "The Spirit" and "Sacred Hour".

Magnum II is the eponymous second studio album by the English rock band Magnum. It was released in 1979 on Jet Records. Magnum II followed on from the success of Magnum's debut album, Kingdom of Madness. The album was produced by former Ten Years After bass player Leo Lyons, who had success with producing Phenomenon, Force It and No Heavy Petting for UFO. As with their debut album Kingdom of Madness, much of the material on Magnum II was already written and had already been previewed in Magnum's live set and were suitably "road tested". The album, however failed to chart on its release in October 1979. Both "Changes", released in September 1979, and "Foolish Heart", released in November 1979, were singles.

These tensions were further strained when Jet Records denied the band a big name producer, leaving them to produce the album themselves.
