Longman & Eagle is an American restaurant located in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago. It was founded in 2010.
The restaurant was founded in 2010 by Pete Toalson and Bruce Finkelman, who had previously founded the music venue the Empty Bottle together. [1] Jared Wentworth, the restaurant's first chef, emphasized pork dishes. [1] The restaurant also features a six-room inn, which inspired food critic Alan Richman to refer to the restaurant as a "neo-flophouse". As of 2018, Bruce Finkelman and Craig Golde, through their firm 16" on Center, own, co-own, operate, and/or co-operate several music venues, including The Empty Bottle, The Promontory, Evanston S.P.A.C.E., Sonotheque (which closed in 2009), and Thalia Hall, all in and near Chicago. Finkeleman and Golde are similarly affiliated with several other restaurants and bars, both at those music venues and free-standing, including Bite Cafe, Dusek's, and Longman & Eagle. Longman & Eagle is a gastropub, [6] focused on serving upscale versions of traditional bar fare. Early in the restaurant's history, some of its produce was sourced by Chicago-based urban forager Dave Odd; restaurants including Browntrout and Blackbird have also employed Odd. [7]
In particular, Longman emphasizes meat-based dishes. [8] The restaurant's tongue hash (beef tongue served with truffle hash) has been highlighted by several publications. [9] [10]
The Michelin Guide awarded the restaurant stars for seven sequential years, beginning in 2010, [11] but it was moved to the less prestigious Bib Gourmand list in 2017. [12]
The Michelin Guides are a series of guide books that have been published by the French tyre company Michelin since 1900. The Guide awards up to three Michelin stars for excellence to a select few restaurants in certain geographic areas. Michelin also publishes the Green Guides, a series of general guides to cities, regions, and countries.
José Ramón Andrés Puerta is a Spanish-American chef and restaurateur. Born in Spain, he moved to the United States in the early 1990s and since then, he has opened restaurants in several American cities. He has won a number of awards, both for his cooking, and his humanitarian work. He is a professor as well as the founder of the Global Food Institute at George Washington University.
Empty Bottle is a bar and music venue located at 1035 N. Western Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. Located on the west side of Chicago's Ukrainian Village neighborhood, the venue primarily hosts local, regional, and touring alternative music acts, but also hosts acts ranging from indie-rock, punk, metal, rock'n'roll, hip-hop, electronic, experimental, and jazz. The venue was opened by Bruce Finkelman in 1992, originally a simple neighborhood bar. In 1993 the club moved to its current location, two blocks from its original location. The venue also owns a connected restaurant next door called Bite Cafe. Empty Bottle is open 7 days a week and hosts performances every night. As of 2024, Bruce Finkelman and Craig Golden, through their firm 16” on Center, own, co-own, operate, and/or co-operate several music venues, including Empty Bottle, The Promontory, Evanston S.P.A.C.E., Sonotheque, Thalia Hall, and The Salt Shed, all in and near Chicago. Evanston S.P.A.C.E. is a small concert hall and venue for music performance and live recording, and a podcast production facility, as well as serves similarly for the visual arts and literary events located at 1245 Chicago Avenue in Evanston, Illinois, adjacent to Chicago, in close proximity to the CTA Purple Line mass transit elevated train station Dempster, just south of Dempster Avenue. It opened in spring 2008, along with Union Pizzeria, an affiliated restaurant in the same building.
Momofuku is a culinary brand established by chef David Chang in 2004 with the opening of Momofuku Noodle Bar. It includes restaurants in New York City, Toronto (defunct), Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, a bakery established by pastry chef Christina Tosi, a bar (Nikai), and a quarterly magazine.

Rose's Luxury is a restaurant on Barracks Row in Washington, D.C., created by chef-owner Aaron Silverman. It is known for not taking reservations which creates long lines, such that a nearby bar's top cocktail is called 'Waiting for Rose's' and line waiters are reported to make up to thirty dollars an hour waiting in line. President Barack Obama celebrated his 54th birthday at Rose's after First Lady Michelle Obama previously ate at the restaurant. The opening of Rose's Luxury in 2013 was the subject of a documentary, New Chefs on the Block. Chef Aaron Silverman had prior experience at Momofuku. It opened a fine dining restaurant next door to Rose's Luxury named Pineapple & Pearls in 2016. Silverman has been the subject of a profile in The Washington Post, which characterized his work as mastery of 'the art of serious play'.
Bocca di Lupo is a small Italian restaurant on Archer Street in London's Soho district rated the best London restaurant in Time Out magazine's 2009 listing. It won "Best Wine List" award in Tatler magazine's 2013 restaurant awards, as well as a Michelin Guide "Bib Gourmand" award. The Time Out award was attributed partly to the restaurant's bargain prices, which increased significantly as its popularity grew. Bocca di Lupo serves cuisine from a variety of Italian regions, with each dish's origin labelled on the menu.
