Laura Petrescu, better known as Lora (born in Vaslui, Romania on 23 July 1982) is a Romanian pop singer, model, judge on The Next Star show, and TV personality. Before her solo career, she was part of the Romanian band Wassabi. [1]

Beginnings

Lora graduated from Sfânta Maria high school in Galați and applied for Prima TV's Star Factory in 2004, she studied sociology at college but her music career didn't allow her to finish it.

In 2006, she became a founding member of Wassabi with a launching song named "Have Some Fun with Radio 21" becoming the signature tune of Radio 21 that year and taking part in the Selecţia Naţională Eurovision 2007 to represent Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest. The songs were "Do the Tango with Me" and "Crazy", the latter with band Morandi.

Solo career

On 1 April 2009, Lora withdraws from the band for a solo career. After 8 months, Lora tried her hand at qualifying for Eurovision but now as a duo with Sonny Flame in the song "Come Along", coming 7th overall despite the popularity of the song. [2]

Lora has collaborated with many acts including Sensor in the open concert of Faithless in Bucharest. [3] with Phelipe in "Hot Spot" and in 2010 with Adrian Sîna of the band Akcent in "My Passion" with great success in Romania and internationally. The music video featured models Ana Stefanescu and Silviu Tolu. Lora released the song "No More Tears" with the help of Adrian Sîna also with an accompanying music video in 2011. Her song "Fall in Love Tonight" has also found international success.

In 2014 Lora receive an important offer from Media Pro Distribution, the singer provides the Romanian dub of Dorothy in Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return. [4]

Akcent is a Romanian dance pop group whose members sing in Romanian, English and Spanish. Their name originated as a wordplay on accent. Originally a duo, it consisted of Adrian Sînă and Ramona Barta. They released their debut album Senzatzia in 2000. Except for the first track, "Ultima vara", which received some airplay, the album was a commercial failure and the duo disbanded shortly after. Sînă brought Marius Nedelcu, Mihai Gruia and Sorin Brotnei into the group, changing it from a duo to a boyband in 2001. They came to prominence with the single "Ți-am promis" in their native Romania.

Wassabi were a Romanian musical girl group established in 2006 under the management of Marius Moga, who also wrote many of their songs. The band was made up of Laura Petrescu, Veronica Tecaru, Ramona Sora, and Luisa Luca.

Adrian Claudiu Sînă, better known as Adrian Sina or simply Adi Sina, is a Romanian singer-songwriter, record producer, radio DJ and entertainer. He is best known for creating, producing and singing in the dance group Akcent and also for writing and producing mainstream hit songs for himself and other international artists. He started out as a disc jockey in the 1990s and then created a group with his fellow musician Ramona Barta. He came to prominence as a member of Akcent with the song "Ultima vară" in 1999. This inspired Anda to begin her own music career, releasing her debut EP Ca Între Fete later that year. In 2003, she released her secpmd EP Doar cu tine. "Yodel It!" is a song recorded by Romanian singers Ilinca and Alex Florea, released on 30 January 2017 by Cat Music. The track was written by Alexandra Niculae and produced by Mihai Alexandru for the Swiss band Timebelle who rejected it. It was then given to Ilinca to record. Florea was chosen as a featured artist as both Alexandru and Ilinca felt her version was incomplete. "Yodel It!" is a mixture of rock, pop and hip hop music, including Ilinca yodeling during the chorus and Florea's rap vocals. The track's optimistic lyrical message was compared to that of Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" (2014).

Romania participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song "Goodbye" written by Alexandru Matei, Alin Neagoe and Cristina Caramarcu. The song was performed by the Humans. The Romanian broadcaster Televiziunea Română (TVR) organised the national final Selecția Națională 2018 in order to select the Romanian entry for the 2018 contest in Lisbon, Portugal. The national final consisted of six shows: five semi-finals and a final. A total of sixty entries were selected and twelve competed in each semi-final where a five-member jury panel selected three entries to advance to the final. The fifteen qualifiers competed in the final on 25 February 2018 where "Goodbye" performed by The Humans was selected as the winner entirely by a public vote.

Resciebelle "Bella" Barrios Santiago is a Filipino singer. Santiago first received recognition in Romania in 2016, after becoming a finalist on season six of Românii au talent, Romania's version of Got Talent. She later received widespread attention after winning season eight of X Factor Romania in 2018.

Confidențial is the debut studio album by the Romanian singer Anda Adam. It was released on 13 October 2005, under Roton records. The album features the successful lead single "Ce ți-aș face (Selecta)", which peaked at number two in the singer's native Romanian Top 100. "Ajutor", "Nai, Nai" and "Ochii Mei" were later released as follow-up singles. As of 2007, the record has sold over 20,000 copies in Romania, resulting in it being certified platinum.

The track was initially released as "Dragoste de închiriat" on 28 January 2005, before being re-released in June in English under its current title. "Jokero" is a song by Romanian group Akcent for their fifth studio album French Kiss with Kylie (2006). Marius Nedelcu wrote the song, while Adi Colceru and Adrian Sînă produced it. The song was officially released on 17 December 2005, when it premiered on a Romanian radio station. In February 2006, "Jokero" was announced as one of the competing songs in Selecția Națională 2006, an event used to determine Romania's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006. Akcent asked Romanian singer Nico to perform the track with them for the competition. The song came second overall, losing to Mihai Trăistariu's "Tornerò" (2006), though it won the public vote.
