Lost Soul Aside is an upcoming action role-playing game developed by Ultizero Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is scheduled to release on May 30, 2025 for the PlayStation 5 and Windows.
The game follows protagonist Kaser as he goes on a journey to save his sister, whose soul has been taken by interdimensional invaders known as Voidrax. First announced as a significant title in Sony's China Hero Project, it would go on to be published by Sony itself (unlike most games in the initiative) due to the game's increasingly ambitious development.
Lost Soul Aside is an action role-playing game played from a third-person perspective. The player controls Kaser, who is accompanied by a shape-shifting dragon named Arena that can transform into various weapons designed to suit multiple combat styles. [1]
Interdimensional beings named Voidrax, intent on destroying other species and draining the energy of their souls, invade the world in a violent meteor shower. After arriving, they take the soul of Louisa, the sister of protagonist Kaser. Kaser then sets out to save her, alongside a mysterious companion named Arena, a dragon-like creature that can transform into various weapons.
Development on Lost Soul Aside initially began around the end of 2014. [1] The game's aesthetic was heavily inspired by Final Fantasy XV. A fan of the game, Bing liked how it blended reality with fantasy, and he strived to implement that balance into Lost Soul Aside. [2]
For Kaser's clothing, Bing commissioned a fashion designer to create his outfit. After his clothes were designed and made, Bing then recreated them in the game. [2]
The game's hack and slash combat takes inspiration from Bayonetta , Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry. [2]
The game was first revealed on July 2016 in a video uploaded to director Yang Bing's YouTube channel. After the video was released, Bing received a message from a contact at PlayStation, who expressed interest in the game and wanted to explore a potential collaboration. At the end of 2016, Bing met with them and started collaborating on the game. [1]
In March 2017, the game was confirmed to be released under the China Hero Project, a program created by Sony to support the development of games from Chinese developers. [3]
In November 2022, Sony announced that they would be publishing the game on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. [4] However, in a trailer shown at ChinaJoy 2023, Sony confirmed that they would only be publishing the game on PlayStation 5 and Windows. [5]
In February 2025, Sony officially announced that the game would be releasing on May 30, 2025. [6]
