Loud Women, stylised in all caps as LOUD WOMEN, is a nonprofit music promoter, online zine, festival and record label, established in London in 2015, and focusing on female DIY artists and female-led groups.

Loud Women has received coverage in Louder Than War , Vive Le Rock , God Is in the TV , NME , Clash and Kerrang! [1]

History

Loud Women was established in 2015 by musician Cassie Fox (of the band I, Doris to address the scarcity of live music opportunities for new female-led bands and female artists on the London music scene, [2] as well as wider issues of representation and equal opportunities in music. [3] [4]

In addition to regular concerts, a Loud Women Fest has been held once a year in London since 2016 (except for 2020) [5] [6] with Loud Women Fest 7 taking place in 2023. [7]

Loud Women Records was established in 2016 and has released five various artists compilation albums: in 2016, [8] [9] 2019, [10] 2021, [11] 2022 and 2023.

In 2017 Loud Women inaugurated the annual 'HERcury' award for best album by a UK female music band/artist. The award has so far been presented to the Menstrual Cramps (2017), ILL (2018), Dream Nails (2019), Nova Twins (2020), [12] Lilith Ai (2021) [13] Petrol Girls (2022) [14] and Big Joanie (2023). [15]

In May 2021, Loud Women released a charity single, "Reclaim These Streets", written by Cassie Fox with additional lyrics performed by Brix Smith, to raise awareness of violence against women, following the eponymous campaign protesting the death of Sarah Everard. All profits from the sale of the track went to Women's Aid. The recording featured over sixty vocalists and musicians including Siobhan Fahey, Debbie Googe, Charley Stone, Debbie Smith, Laura Kidd and members of KaitO, Salad, Scarce, Sidi Bou Said, Hagar the Womb, Big Joanie, Desperate Journalist, Dream Nails, Petrol Girls, the Tuts and the Chefs. The song reached #3 in the iTunes alternative chart. [16] [17]

Initially active solely in London, Loud Women has since opened chapters in the US, Australia, Canada and Ireland, as well as hosting events elsewhere in the UK such as Hastings and Brighton.

Enter Shikari are a British rock band formed in St Albans in 1999 by bassist Chris Batten, lead vocalist and keyboardist Rou Reynolds, and drummer Rob Rolfe. In 2003, guitarist Rory Clewlow joined the band to complete its current line-up, and it adopted its current name. In 2006, they performed to a growing fanbase at Download Festival as well as a sold-out concert at the London Astoria. Their debut studio album, Take to the Skies, was released in 2007 and reached number 4 in the Official UK Album Chart, and has since been certified gold in the UK. Their second, Common Dreads, was released in 2009 and debuted on the UK Albums Chart at number 16; while their third, A Flash Flood of Colour, was released in 2012 and debuted on the chart at number 4. Both have since been certified silver in the UK. The band spent a considerable amount of time supporting the latter release through the A Flash Flood of Colour World Tour, before beginning work on a fourth studio album, The Mindsweep, which was released in 2015. Their fifth studio album The Spark was released in 2017. Their sixth album Nothing Is True & Everything Is Possible was released in April 2020. Their seventh and latest album, A Kiss for the Whole World, was released on 21 April 2023 which gave them their first-ever No. 1 album.

Creeper are an English rock band from Southampton. Formed in 2014, the group originally featured vocalist Will Gould, guitarists Ian Miles and Sina Nemati, bassist Sean Scott, and drummer Dan Bratton. The band independently released their self-titled debut EP in 2014, before signing with Roadrunner Records and issuing follow-up The Callous Heart the next year. At the end of 2015, Nemati was replaced by Oliver Burdett and touring keyboardist/second vocalist Hannah Greenwood became an official band member. A third EP, The Stranger, was released in 2016 and reached the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart top ten.

Radio, Wonderland (magazine), Sirius XM, Classic Rock Magazine, Vive Le Rock, New Noise Magazine USA, Planet Rock, BBC Introducing, Kerrang!, Metal Hammer, former title Q Magazine. The Kut is known for her distinctive, gritty style and for captivating songs, such as ‘ANIMO’, ‘And 1 More...’, 'Bad Man' and charity Christmas single entitled ‘Waiting for Christmas’.

The band is named after the historical Pétroleuses and is outspokenly feminist. They have released three albums on independent labels. They have received media coverage from The Independent, Kerrang!, NPR and Vice Media

Big Joanie is a British punk band formed in London in 2013. Its members are Stephanie Phillips and Estella Adeyeri. Founding drummer Chardine Taylor-Stone left the band in 2023. After a few singles and EPs they released their first album in 2018 with Thurston Moore and Eva Prinz's Daydream Library Series, and have since signed to Kill Rock Stars in the U.S.

Hands Off Gretel is a rock band, affiliated to the UK Punk scene, formed 2015 in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The current line-up is Lauren Tate, Sean Bon (guitar) Sam Hobbins (drums) and Becky Baldwin (bass) The band have achieved press coverage in the Basingstoke Gazette, music magazine Vive Le Rock and website Louder Than War. Their music often explores the themes of loneliness, guilt, and girlhood.

Nova Twins are an English alternative rock duo formed in London, England, in 2014, consisting of vocalist/guitarist Amy Love and bassist Georgia South. Their debut album, Who Are the Girls?, was released in February 2020 and their most recent album, Supernova, was released in June 2022, which was shortlisted for the 2022 Mercury Prize and led to the band receiving two nominations at the BRIT Awards in 2023.

Wargasm are a British electronic rock duo from London. Formed in 2018 by musician Sam Matlock and model Milkie Way, they have released 11 solo singles including "Spit." which has gained 5 million streams on Spotify, and over 400 thousand views on YouTube. Alternative Press listed them as a defining part of the 2020s wave of nu metal, and NME listed them as one of 2021's essential emerging artists. The pair also took home "Best UK Breakthrough" at The Heavy Music Awards in 2021 and have received widespread acclaim from Kerrang! and Revolver. Their debut EP, Explicit: The Mixxxtape, was released on 9 September 2022.
