Khaidi (transl. Prisoner) is a 1983 Indian Telugu-language action film directed by A. Kodandarami Reddy. The film stars Chiranjeevi and Madhavi. It is loosely based on the 1982 American film First Blood. Released on 28 October 1983, the film was a massive commercial success and Chiranjeevi rose to stardom. In 1984, it was remade in Hindi as Qaidi, and in Kannada under the same title, with Madhavi reprising her role both times.
Gang Leader is a 1991 Indian Telugu-language action crime film written and directed by Vijaya Bapineedu, and produced by Maganti Ravindranath Chowdary. The film stars Chiranjeevi and Vijayashanti, while Rao Gopal Rao, Anandaraj, Murali Mohan, and Sarath Kumar play supporting roles. The soundtrack was composed by Bappi Lahiri with dance choreography by Prabhu Deva. The film explores the concepts of exploitation of law enforcement by anti-social behaviour and the impact of mob psychology.
Punnami Naagu is an Indian Telugu-language horror drama film directed by Rajasekhar and produced by AVM Productions. The film brought recognition to Chiranjeevi and his first Filmfare nomination. The other leads in the film, including Rati Agnihotri, Narasimha Raju and Padmanabham played important roles. The film was released on 13 June 1980. It is a remake of the director's own Kannada film Hunnimeya Rathriyalli. It also marked the Telugu debut for Malayalam actress, Menaka G. Suresh.

Ranuva Veeran (transl. Soldier) is a 1981 Indian Tamil-language action film directed by S. P. Muthuraman, starring Rajinikanth, Sridevi and Chiranjeevi. It was released on 27 October 1981 on the occasion of Diwali. The film was later dubbed in Hindi as Zulm Ki Zanjeer. Despite starring two popular heroes from Tamil and Telugu cinema, Ranuva Veeran became a box office failure.
Kaali is a 1980 Indian action film written by Mahendran and directed by I. V. Sasi. Produced by Hem-Nag, the film stars Rajinikanth, Seema, Fatafat Jayalaxmi and Shubha. The film was simultaneously made in Tamil and Telugu languages, with Chiranjeevi replacing Vijayakumar in Telugu. The cinematography was handled by Ashok Kumar and soundtrack was composed by Ilaiyaraaja. Kaali ran for less than 50 days in Chennai and was considered a box office failure in both Tamil and Telugu.
Alaigal Oivathillai is a 1981 Indian Tamil-language coming-of-age romantic drama film written and directed by Bharathiraja, from a story by Manivannan. The film stars Karthik and Radha, in their acting debut. Thiagarajan, Silk Smitha and Kamala Kamesh appear in supporting roles. The story follows a Hindu boy who falls in love with a Christian girl. How the lovers unite braving all the obstacles, forms the crux of the story.
Chiranjeevi is an Indian actor and producer who works predominantly in Telugu cinema. He has also appeared in Hindi, Tamil and Kannada films. He made his acting debut in 1978, with the film Punadhirallu. However, Pranam Khareedu was released earlier at the box office. Known for his break dancing skills, Chiranjeevi has starred in more than 150 feature films. He rose to stardom after playing the lead in the action film Khaidi (1983). His 1987 film Swayamkrushi premiered at the Moscow International Film Festival. He co-produced Rudraveena (1988), which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration. In a film career spanning forty-five years, he has won four state Nandi Awards and nine Filmfare Awards South.
47 Natkal is a 1981 Indian Tamil-language thriller film written and directed by K. Balachander. It was simultaneously made in Telugu as 47 Rojulu. The film stars Chiranjeevi, Jaya Prada, and Anne Patricia. Based on the novel of the same name by Sivasankari, it revolves around Vishali and how her marriage to Kumar (Chiranjeevi) lasts only 47 days. The Tamil version was released on 17 July 1981, and the Telugu version on 3 September 1981.
Mukkamala Krishna Murthy (1920–1982), known mononymously by his surname as Mukkamala, was a lawyer turned actor who was active in Telugu films in the 1950s and the 1960s. He was a stage actor in his student days and was popular in the role of French General Bussy in Bobbili Yuddham, a stage play based on the historical Battle of Bobbili. He joined the Telugu film industry in the late 1940s in Madras and played a variety of character roles in a career lasting for about 35 years. He died in 1982.
Panneer Pushpangal is a 1981 Indian Tamil-language teen romance film jointly directed by Santhana Bharathi and P. Vasu in their directorial debut. The film stars Pratap, Vennira Aadai Moorthy and newcomers Suresh Kumar and Shanthi Krishna. It was released on 3 July 1981. It was dubbed into Telugu as Madhura Geetham and released on 20 March 1982.

Azhage Unnai Aarathikkiren! is a 1979 Indian Tamil-language romance film directed by C. V. Sridhar and produced by B. Bharani Reddy. The Tamil version stars Vijayakumar, Latha and Jai Ganesh. The film was simultaneously shot in Kannada and Telugu as Urvashi Neenu Nanna Preyasi and Urvasi Neeve Naa Preyasi respectively. The Kannada version stars Srinath and Ramakrishna while the Telugu version stars Murali Mohan and Sarath Babu. The film was Subhashini's debut in Tamil cinema. It was released on 16 March 1979.

Danayya under the banner DVV Entertainments, the film stars Ram Charan Konidela, Rakul Preet Singh, Arun Vijay, Kriti Kharbanda, Sampath Raj and Nadhiya. The film features music composed by S. Thaman, while Manoj Paramahamsa took charge of the film's cinematography and M. R. Varma edited the film. It follows Kartik who sacrifices his studies for his sister and becomes a stuntman. Often mistaken for an undercover policeman, he helps to unearth the evil designs of drug dealers Deepak Raj and his father Jayaraj.
