Luis Val (born 17 October 1959) is an Australian judoka. He competed in the men's half-middleweight event at the 1988 Summer Olympics. [2]
Robert Van de Walle is a retired Belgian judoka. He was the first judoka to ever compete at five Olympics, from 1976 to 1992. Competing in the half-heavyweight category he won the gold medal in 1980 and a bronze in 1988 at the age of 34. Van de Walle won European titles in 1980, 1985 and 1986. Together with Ingrid Berghmans he was the face of Belgian judo in the late 1970s and 1980s. After retiring from competitions he ran a coaching company together with his wife. He was the head of the Belgian delegation at the 2004 Summer Olympics. In summer 2021, 14 years after obtaining the rank of black belt 8th dan; Van De Walle, currently a member of Judo Club Crossing Schaerbeek, accepted his promotion to 9th dan from the International Judo Federation.
Bjarni Friðriksson is a retired Icelandic judoka. At the 1984 Summer Olympics he won the bronze medal in the men's half heavyweight (95 kg) category, together with Günther Neureuther of West Germany. He remains the most successful Icelandic judoka to date. He also competed at the 1980, 1988 and the 1992 Summer Olympics.
Shay-Oren Smadja is a former Israeli judoka and a judo coach. Smadja won the Olympic bronze medal in judo at the 1992 Summer Olympics, making him the first Israeli man to win an Olympic medal, and the second Israeli overall after Yael Arad won silver in judo the day before.
Askhat Rasulovich Zhitkeyev is a Kazakh judoka. He won a silver medal at the 2008 Olympics in the –100 kg division and a bronze medal at the 2001 world judo championships in the –100 kg division. He won three bronze medals at the –100 kg category at the Asian Games.
