He was born in Merredin,Western Australia,and was educated at Graylands Teachers College,Perth. He was a teacher and marketing consultant before entering politics.

The Division of Pearce is an Australian electoral division in the state of Western Australia. It was created at the 1989 redistribution and named after George Pearce,the longest serving member of the Australian Senate,serving from 1901 to 1938. For most of its existence,Pearce was a hybrid urban-rural seat that covered Perth's outer northern suburbs before fanning inland from the Indian Ocean to take in portions of the Wheatbelt southeast,east and northeast of the capital. However,as of the 2021 redistribution,Pearce is largely coterminous with the City of Wanneroo in Perth's northern suburbs. It has had four members:Fred Chaney,Judi Moylan,Christian Porter,and Tracey Roberts. The first three were members of the Liberal Party,whereas Roberts,a former mayor of Wanneroo,is a member of the Labor Party.

Paul Terrance Miles is an Australian politician. He was a Liberal member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 2008 to 2017,representing Wanneroo. He won the seat after defeating sitting Labor MLA Dianne Guise. Miles was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Commerce in 2013 to 2016,in the Barnett Ministry. The 2013 Australian federal election to elect the members of the 44th Parliament of Australia took place on Saturday 7 September 2013. The centre-right Liberal/National Coalition opposition led by Opposition leader Tony Abbott of the Liberal Party of Australia and Coalition partner the National Party of Australia,led by Warren Truss,defeated the incumbent centre-left Labor Party government of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in a landslide. It was also the third time in history that a party won 90 or more seats at an Australian election. Labor had been in government for six years since being elected in the 2007 election. This election marked the end of the Rudd-Gillard-Rudd Labor government and the start of the 9 year long Abbott-Turnbull-Morrison Liberal-National Coalition government. Abbott was sworn in by the Governor-General,Quentin Bryce,as Australia's new prime minister on 18 September 2013,along with the Abbott Ministry. The 44th Parliament of Australia opened on 12 November 2013,with the members of the House of Representatives and territory senators sworn in. The state senators were sworn in by the next Governor-General Peter Cosgrove on 7 July 2014,with their six-year terms commencing on 1 July.
The 2014 Victorian state election,held on Saturday,29 November 2014,was for the 58th Parliament of Victoria. All 88 seats in the Victorian Legislative Assembly and 40 seats in the Victorian Legislative Council were up for election. The incumbent centre-right Coalition minority government,led by Liberal Party leader and Premier Denis Napthine and National Party leader and Deputy Premier Peter Ryan,was defeated by the centre-left Labor Party opposition,led by Daniel Andrews. The Greens won two lower house seats,their first Legislative Assembly seats in a Victorian state election,whilst increasing their share of upper house seats. The new Andrews Ministry was sworn in on 4 December 2014.
The 2015 New South Wales state election was held on Saturday 28 March 2015. Members were elected to all 93 seats in the Legislative Assembly using optional preferential voting. Members were also elected to 21 of the 42 seats in the Legislative Council using optional preferential proportional representation voting. The election was conducted by the New South Wales Electoral Commission.
The 2016 Australian federal election was a double dissolution election held on Saturday 2 July to elect all 226 members of the 45th Parliament of Australia,after an extended eight-week official campaign period. It was the first double dissolution election since the 1987 election and the first under a new voting system for the Senate that replaced group voting tickets with optional preferential voting.

Tracey Roberts is an English-born Australian politician. She was elected to the Division of Pearce in the Australian House of Representatives at the 2022 Australian federal election,succeeding Christian Porter. She was a councillor for the City of Wanneroo from 2003 to 2022,and mayor from 2011 to 2022. She was also the president of the Western Australian Local Government Association from March 2020 to 2022,a vice president of the Australian Local Government Association.
