Lunice Fermin Pierre II [1] [2] (born May 15, 1988), [3] better known by his stage name Lunice, is a Canadian record producer and DJ from Montreal. [4] He is one half of the duo TNGHT along with Hudson Mohawke. [5]
Lunice is the son of a Filipino mother and a Haitian father. [6]
Lunice started as a b-boy, dancing competitively for the 701 Squad. [7] [8] In the early 2000s, he was inspired to make his own music after hearing how producer 9th Wonder constructed beats on the computer program Fruity Loops. [9]
In 2007, Lunice played his first gig at Hovatron's monthly Bass Culture in Montréal, where he met Sixtoo, and was invited to perform at the Megasoid parties. He has been a part of the Turbo Crunk crew ever since. [7]
In 2008, Lunice released a video for Lazersword's "Gucci Sweatshirt". [10] In 2010, he participated in the London installment of the Red Bull Music Academy. [11] Also in the same year, Lunice performed at the Sonar Music Festival. [12]
Lunice signed to LuckyMe for the release of two EPs, Stacker Upper (2010) and One Hunned (2011), and soon connected with producer Diplo and his Mad Decent label for a remix of Deerhunter's "Helicopter", [13] which led to further collaborations on remixes, mixes for the likes of BBC Radio 1, [14] and performances with the Mad Decent Block Party. [15] In 2011, Lunice collaborated with Azealia Banks and was featured in her video for the song "212". [16]
Since then, he has done work with such labels as XL Recordings, Warner Bros. Records, Palms Out Sounds, Young Turks, Big Dada, and Top Billin'. Throughout 2010 and 2011, Lunice toured internationally. [17]
Lunice and Hudson Mohawke formed the group TNGHT, [18] for the 2012 release of an EP on Warp and LuckyMe, [19] following a successful headlining Warp's SXSW showcase earlier in the year. [20] The duo met in 2008, when Lunice booked Hudson Mohawke to perform at one of his Turbo Crunk parties. [21]
In 2017, Lunice released his debut solo studio album, CCCLX . [22] In that year, he also released a collaborative EP with The Alchemist, titled Moving Parts. [23]
Thomas Wesley Pentz, known professionally as Diplo, is an American DJ and music producer. He is a co-creator and lead member of the electronic dancehall music project Major Lazer; a member of the supergroup LSD, with Sia and Labrinth; a member of electronic duo Jack Ü, with producer and DJ Skrillex; and a member of Silk City, with Mark Ronson. He founded the record company Mad Decent in 2006, as well as the non-profit organization Heaps Decent the following year. His 2013 extended play (EP), Revolution, debuted at number 68 on the US Billboard 200. The EP's title track was later featured in a commercial for Hyundai and is featured on the WWE 2K16 soundtrack.

Ross Matthew Birchard, better known by the stage name Hudson Mohawke, is a Scottish-American producer, composer, and DJ from Glasgow. He is known for his work in 21st century hip-hop and electronic music. A founding member of the UK label collective LuckyMe, his fractured take on hip-hop made him a leading figure in the late-2000s wonky scene. He released his debut album Butter in 2009 on Warp Records. He has followed with the solo albums Lantern (2015) and Cry Sugar (2022), both on Warp.
Major Lazer is a Jamaican-American electronic dance music and DJ trio, which includes record producer Diplo, and DJs Walshy Fire and Ape Drums. They originate from Kingston, Jamaica, founded in 2008 by Diplo and Switch, with Switch leaving after three years in 2011. He was then replaced by both Jillionaire and Walshy Fire. In June 2019, Jillionaire left the group and was replaced by Ape Drums. Their music spans numerous genres, mixing reggae with dancehall, reggaeton, soca, house and moombahton.

Azealia Amanda Banks is an American rapper, singer and songwriter. Raised in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City, she began releasing music through Myspace in 2008 before being signed to XL Recordings at age 18. She subsequently signed with Interscope and Polydor Records before separating in 2013. Banks became an independent artist and started her own independent record label, Chaos & Glory Recordings. She later signed to Parlophone and Warner Records before quitting her label in 2023.
"212" is the debut single by American rapper Azealia Banks. The song features "Lazy Jay", an alias for Belgian DJ Jef Martens and his brother Toon. Their song "Float My Boat" provided the musical base of the track and they also produced Banks' version. The song title is a reference to area code 212, which covers Manhattan, New York City, where Banks grew up. It was first released on December 6, 2011, in the United Kingdom as the lead single from her 2012 EP 1991, and is also included on her debut studio album Broke with Expensive Taste (2014).

TNGHT is a musical duo consisting of Scottish producer Hudson Mohawke and Canadian producer Lunice, formed in 2011. The duo released their self-titled debut EP to positive reviews in 2012. They announced an indefinite hiatus in late 2013, until their return in September 2019.
"Harlem Shake" is a song recorded by American DJ and producer Baauer. It was released as his debut single on May 22, 2012, by Mad Decent imprint label Jeffree's. The uptempo song—variously described as trap, hip hop or bass music—incorporates a mechanical bassline, Dutch house synth riffs, a dance music drop, and samples of growling-lion sounds. It also samples Plastic Little's 2001 song "Miller Time", specifically the vocal "then do the Harlem shake", which is an allusion to the dance of the same name. Baauer added a variety of peculiar sounds to the song so that it would stand out.
Electric Highway is the fifth mixtape by American rapper Rockie Fresh, it was released on January 21, 2013. The mixtape features guest appearances from Lunice, Rick Ross, Nipsey Hussle, Sasha Go Hard and Currensy. The mixtape is hosted by DJ Ill Will.
"Blood on the Leaves" is a song by American hip hop recording artist Kanye West from his sixth studio album Yeezus (2013). In the song, West presents his thoughts on how fame can cause the destruction of relationships, while making comparisons of contemporary times to the lynching of African Americans in the United States during the pre-civil rights era. West delivers his vocals through an Auto-Tune processor, like on his 2008 album 808s & Heartbreak. It contains samples of both singer Nina Simone's 1965 rendition of Billie Holiday's song "Strange Fruit", and "R U Ready" by the duo TNGHT, who co-produced the track.
Henry Alfred Steinway, better known by his stage name RL Grime, is an American record producer and DJ. RL Grime specializes in trap and bass music and is a member of the Los Angeles electronic music collective WeDidIt. His debut Grapes EP was released in April 2012 on WeDidIt. RL Grime premiered a popular Halloween mix in October 2012, which have continued to be released annually through 2023. His follow-up EP High Beams was released in July 2013 on Fool's Gold Records, which debuted at No. 8 on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Albums chart, and No. 1 on the iTunes Electronic Chart. RL Grime has produced remixes for Benny Benassi, Chief Keef, Jamie Lidell, and Shlohmo. His second studio album, Nova, was released in 2018. In February 2019, RL Grime announced the founding of his record label Sable Valley.

Good Times Ahead are an electronic music duo from Miami consisting of house, electro house, trap and hip hop producers Julio Mejia and Matt Toth. After releasing music with the support of Laidback Luke in 2011, the duo caught the attention of Diplo, who featured them on his 2012 "Express Yourself" which was written by their cousin Joel Santillan. GTA has released music on labels such as Warner Bros., A-Trak's Fool's Gold, Laidback Luke's MixMash, Steve Angello's SIZE, Diplo's Mad Decent and more. TNGHT is the self-titled debut extended play of the duo TNGHT, the collaboration of producers Hudson Mohawke and Lunice. Recorded in a London studio in a couple of nights, it was released on the labels Warp and LuckyMe on July 23, 2012.
Daniel Pollard, more commonly known by his stage name HXV, is an American music producer. The first release from HXV was a mixtape titled We Off That, which was introduced under Diplo's Mad Decent label. Following this was his debut EP titled Run the Trap. This included the song "Flex", which caught the attention of Diplo, later landing HXV the opportunity to remix Major Lazer's "Jah No Partial". The response to this remix was outstanding, thus securing him a spot in the community.
