Luponde is a town and ward in Njombe Urban District in the Njombe Region of the Tanzanian Southern Highlands. The population of the ward, according to the 2002 Tanzanian census, was 13,872.^[1] The biggest employer is the Luponde tea factory.

Njombe Urban District is one of the six districts of the Njombe Region of Tanzania, East Africa. The administrative seat for the district is in the city of Njombe.

Njombe Region is one of the 31 administrative regions of Tanzania. It was established in March 2012, from the Iringa Region as an independent region. The region's capital is Njombe town. The newly established Njombe region is an upcoming tourism attractive area, ideal for domestic and international visits in the southern highlands of Tanzania.
