Ludewa is a town and ward in Ludewa District of Njombe Region in Tanzania, East Africa. The town is the administrative seat for Ludewa District. As of the 2002 census, the ward had a population of 8,747. [1]
Major economic activities are agriculture (food crops & animal keeping), fishing is conducted in some parts (along Lake Nyasa) and to a small extent timber production is conducted in different parts (wards) of the district.
Major transport system is road, which join various parts of the district. the main road is from Njombe to Ludewa town, then continues up to Manda (Nyasa lake shore).

Ludewa District is one of six districts in the Njombe Region in Tanzania, East Africa. Prior to 2012, the district was one of the seven districts of Iringa Region. The town of Ludewa is the administrative seat of the district. A hospital is located in the city. The district is bordered to the north by the Njombe Rural District and Makete District, to the southeast by the Ruvuma Region and to the southwest by the country of Malawi across Lake Malawi/Lake Nyasa.
Mbeya Region is one of Tanzania's 31 administrative regions. It is located in the country's southwest. The regional capital is the city of Mbeya. According to the 2012 national census, the region had a population of 2,707,410, which was lower than the pre-census projection of 2,822,396. For 2002-2012, the region's 2.7 percent average annual population growth rate was tied for the tenth highest in the country. As of 2022, the ward has four villages, namely Kifanya, Mikongo, Liwengi and Lilombwi, with a total population of 9011 and average people per household of 4.2(National bureau of statistics- Tanzania, March 2013). Main activities within the local area are agriculture and timber industry. The indigenous tribe of the locality is Bena tribe, therefore main languages spoken are bena and kiswahili(National language). If you visit Kifanya expect to hear names like: Mhule, Mgeni, Mwenda, Wandelage, Mayemba, Mtewele and so forth around because they constitute what is indignity of the locality. The area is seeing what could be described as reasonable technological advancement and economic opening-up. The International telecom union report showed that the number of internet user in Tanzania increased from 3 in 2001 to 20 in 2020. The same progress is seen in the ward with the main usage being on social media(WhatsApp, Facebook and JamiiForum){ITU and world telecommunication ICT database, published 2021}. Main telecom companies that provide network services are VodaCom, tigo and halotel. More could be sought about how this rapidly escalating internet usage rate is of importance to Kifanya or Njombe residents in general. Kifanya has one central tarmac road which is fed by several earth/gravel road(also see; Kifanya-Mikongo: old-Songea road),that are used as supply networks for timber industry.
