Lusapho Lesly April (born May 24, 1982) is a South African long-distance runner. He was born in Uitenhage. [1] He competed in the marathon at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, but managed only 43rd place after falling mid-race.
He set a national record in 25 km road running (1:15:02 [2] ) in 2010. He is a two-time winner at the Two Oceans Half Marathon. He set a course record at the 2013 Hannover Marathon, winning in a personal best time of 2:08:32 hours. [3] He was the third-place finisher at the 2013 New York City Marathon.
He competed in the men's marathon at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He finished in 24th place with a time of 2:15:24. [4]
Kenenisa Bekele Beyecha is an Ethiopian long-distance runner. He was the world record holder in both the 5000-metre and 10000-metre from 2004 until 2020. He won the gold medal in both the 5000 m and 10,000 m events at the 2008 Summer Olympics. At the 2004 Olympics, he won the gold medal in the 10,000 m and the silver medal in the 5000 m.
Eliud Kipchoge is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in the marathon and formerly specialized at the 5000 metre distance. Regarded as one of the greatest marathon runners of all time, he is the 2016 and 2020 Olympic marathon champion, and was the world record holder in the marathon with a time of 2:01:09 set at the 2022 Berlin Marathon, until that record was broken by Kelvin Kiptum at the Chicago Marathon on 8 October 2023 with a time of 2:00:35. He has run five of the nine fastest marathons in history.
Sabrina Mockenhaupt is a German long-distance runner who specialises in track events and the marathon. She is a two-time winner of the Cologne Marathon and has also won the Frankfurt Marathon and the Berlin Half Marathon. She represented Germany at the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics and was the 3000 metres bronze medallist at the 2005 European Indoor Championships. She has a marathon best of 2:26:21, set at the 2010 Berlin Marathon.

Tamirat Tola Abera is an Ethiopian world champion long-distance runner who competes in track, road and cross country events. He won the bronze medal in the 10,000 metres at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Tamirat competed in the marathon at the 2017 and 2022 World Athletics Championships, earning silver and gold respectively, setting a championship record at the latter in the process. He finished third at the 2021 Tokyo and 2023 London Marathon and won the 2023 New York City Marathon, breaking the course record.
