Lutful Haider Chowdhury was a Bangladeshi essayist, researcher of Bengali language and literature, educationist and intellectual. In 1990, the government of Bangladesh awarded him the Ekushey Padak, the state's second-highest civilian honour, for his contribution to education. [1]

Chowdhury's elder brother, Mufazzal Haider Chaudhury, was a professor at the University of Dhaka who was killed in the Bangladesh Liberation War. [2] [3]

Ekushey Padak is the second highest civilian award in Bangladesh, introduced in memory of the martyrs of the Bengali Language Movement of 1952. The award is given to recognize contributions in a number of fields, including culture, education, and economics. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs administers the award.

She was the recipient of the Ekushey Padak in 1992 and Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the film Chhutir Phande (1990).

Abdul Alim was a Bangladeshi folk singer. He won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer in 1975 for playback in Sujan Sakhi. He was posthumously awarded the Ekushey Padak in 1977 and Independence Day Award in 1997 by the Government of Bangladesh.

The Dainik Purbokone is a Bengali-language daily newspaper in Bangladesh, and one of the leading newspaper published in Chittagong. The newspaper was founded in 1986. According to the data published by the Department of Films and Publications, under the Ministry of Information, on 28 August 2019, its circulation of 62,100 copies was the largest of the national dailies published from Chittagong. In the assessment of the Bangladesh Press Institute in 1994, Purbokone was mentioned as the best daily.
