Luz is a civil parish in the municipality of Santa Cruz da Graciosa on the island of Graciosa in the Portuguese Azores. The population in 2011 was 683, [1] in an area of 11.70 km2. [2] It contains the localities Alto do Sul, Fajã da Folga, Folga, Carapacho, Luz and Pedras Brancas.

Graciosa Island, also referred to as the White Island, is a volcanic island in the Atlantic Ocean. It is the northernmost of the Central Group of islands in the Azores archipelago. The ovular Portuguese island has an area of 60.65 square kilometres, a length of 10 kilometres and a width of 7 kilometres. It's landscape is dominated by a 1.6-kilometre-wide (1.0-mile) central caldera located in the southeast.

Gaspar Frutuoso was a Portuguese priest, historian and humanist from the island of São Miguel, in the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores. Santa Cruz da Graciosa is a civil parish in the municipality of the same name on the volcanic island of Graciosa, in the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores. The parish occupies the northeastern corner of the island and is the home of the municipal seat, as well as economic center concentrating most municipal services, in addition to the main airport and port. The population in 2011 was 1,776, in an area of 15.52 km2.
The Graciosa fortress was established on the coast of Morocco by the Portuguese in 1489. It was established on a small river island, about three leagues from the sea, at the junction of river Lucus and river el-Mekhazen, a few kilometers inland from modern Larache. The island had been yielded to the Portuguese by Abu Zakariya Muhammad al-Saih al-Mahdi through a treaty following the Portuguese capture of Arzila.

The Burro da Ilha Graciosa or Burro Anão da Graciosa is a breed of small domestic donkey endemic to the island of Graciosa, in the North Atlantic archipelago of the Azores, which are an autonomous region of Portugal. It is critically endangered, but is not officially recognised or reported to the DAD-IS database of the FAO. Efforts are being made to obtain official recognition and protection of the breed.
The District of Angra do Heroísmo, was a district of the Ilhas Adjacentes, consisting of the dependent central islands of the Azores. Praia Islet is a highly vegetated uninhabited islet located approximately 1.5 kilometres away from the town of Praia off the eastern coast of the island of Graciosa in the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores. Along with Baixo Islet to its south, Praia Islet is one of two main breeding places of Monteiro's storm petrel, an endemic marine bird of the Azores.
