Mbarara City is a city in the Western Region of Uganda and the second largest city in Uganda after Kampala. The city is divided into 6 boroughs of Kakoba Division, Kamukuzi Division, Nyamitanga Division, Biharwe Division, Kakiika Division, Nyakayojo Division. It is the main commercial centre of most of south western districts of Uganda and the site of the district headquarters. In May 2019, the Uganda's cabinet granted Mbarara a city status, which started on 1 July 2020. The name of the municipality came from a colonial mispronunciation of Emburara, a tall grass that previously covered the whole area.

AK 47, Akay 47, Ak Fortyseven, AkayFourtyseven birth name Emmanuel Mayanja was a Ugandan Dancehall and Kidandali music artist, he rose to fame in 2012 with his song "Champion". He is said to have been one of the best dancehall musicians Uganda has ever had. He died on 16 March 2015 a mysterious death.
Milege Afrojazz Band, commonly known as Milege, is a world music band from Uganda, made up of young talented musicians from Uganda whose enthusiasm is derived from the diverse cultural music traditions of the different tribes of Uganda into which they fuse contemporary elements to express the likeness of Uganda's people in a more current context. As of 2015 Milege's members are; guitarist Manana F. Birabi, vocalist Joanita Katushabe, lead vocalist Gloria Akugizibwe, bassist Paul Owembabazi and violinist Alison Nadunga as a seasoned member.
Sheebah Karungi, professionally known as Queen Karma and Sheebah, is a Ugandan musician, dancer, actress and feminist activist. She debuted her acting career in Queen of Katwe as Shakira. After quitting Obsessions, a dance group she joined in 2006, she started making music and later rose to recognition upon the release of her hit single "Ice Cream". In 2014, she released her debut project Ice Cream, a five-track EP which did well commercially and led her to win back-to-back HiPipo Music Awards Best Female Artist in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. She also won the Artist of the Year award twice, in 2017, 2018, and 2019 at the HiPipo Music Awards. In 2024, she was appointed vice president of the Uganda National Musician Federation assisting Eddy Kenzo who is the president of the federation.

He released his 25 track debut studio album No Fear in 2019 that featured artists like Skales and Lydia Jazmine.

Catherine Mbabazi commonly known as Cathy Patra is a Ugandan dancer, choreographer, fashion model and businesswoman. She won the Best Choreography in Africa award and her group RVC won Best Dancing Group in Africa at the 2021 Zikomo Awards in Zambia.
The 2021 MTV Africa Music Awards ceremony was the planned 7th edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards. The ceremony was postponed The event was set to be held in Kampala, Uganda and, as of 2024, it has not taken place, so it can be considered to have been cancelled. The award ceremony was to be aired live on MTV Base, and MTV was to air the event globally, in 180 countries, for the first time, according to Paul Grein of Billboard. The show was to be hosted virtually by DJ Khaled in the City of Miami. The ceremony was set to feature performances from various African celebrities; Wizkid, Sheebah Karungi, Diamond Platnumz, Khaligraph Jones, Nasty C, Suspect 95, Soraia Ramos, and Calema, among others. The repeat show will also be aired on BET Africa, BET International, and MTV channels.
Winnie Nwagi is a Ugandan singer and songwriter. She is currently signed under Swangz Avenue, a music label based in Uganda.
Rahmah Pinky is a Ugandan musician and once an artist from Team No Sleep (TNS). She was signed to replace Sheebah Karungi, who quit the record label.
