Lydia Smart (born 16 July 1998) [1] is an English figure skater. With her skating partner Harry Mattick, she is the 2022 Britannia Cup champion, the 2023 British Championship silver medalist, and the 2022 British Championship bronze medalist.
Smart began learning to skate at the age of three with the goal of becoming an Olympic athlete. As well as skating lessons, she took on additional training including ballet, flexibility, and fitness. Smart competed in her first British Championship at the age of 12. [2]
She was selected in 2012 to be part of the British International Development Squad by the National Ice Skating Association (now British Ice Skating). [2]
In 2016, Smart was invited to train in Colorado Springs, Colorado in the United States. [2] She trained overseas for a period of six months before returning to the United Kingdom. [3]
Since the 2020-21 figure skating season, Smart has competed in pair skating with Harry Mattick. The pair train at both the Oxford and Swindon rinks.
In 2022, Smart starred in the BBC Three documentary series Freeze [4] along with Harry Mattick and fellow Swindon skater Kristen Spours.
Smart is a British Ice Skating Level 2 qualified coach [3] and teaches at the Oxford Ice Rink when not competing.

The European Figure Skating Championships is an annual figure skating competition in which figure skaters compete for the title of European champion. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The event is sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU) and is the sport's oldest competition. The first European Championships was held in 1891 in Hamburg, Germany and featured one segment, compulsory figures, with seven competitors, all men from Germany and Austria. It has been, other than five periods, held continuously since 1891, and has been sanctioned by the ISU since 1893. Women were allowed to compete for the first time in 1930, which is also the first time pairs skating was added to the competition. Ice dance was added in 1954. Only eligible skaters from ISU member countries in Europe can compete, and skaters must have reached at least the age of 15 before July 1 preceding the competition. ISU member countries can submit 1-3 skaters to compete in the European Championships.
Marie-France Dubreuil is a Canadian ice dancing coach and former competitor. With her husband Patrice Lauzon, she is a two-time (2006–2007) World silver medallist.
Figure skating is a sport with participants across the world. Originally based in North America and Europe, the sport has experienced a major expansion in the countries of East Asia. The international governing body of the sport is the International Skating Union (ISU). Only those nations which are members of the International Skating Union are allowed to compete in the figure skating events in the Olympic Games.
Deanna Stellato-Dudek is an American pair skater who currently competes with Maxime Deschamps for Canada. With Deschamps, she is the 2024 Four Continents champion, 2023–24 Grand Prix Final bronze medalist, a three-time ISU Grand Prix gold medalist, a two-time ISU Challenger Series gold medalist, and two-time Canadian national champion (2023–2024).
Zoe Jones is a retired British figure skater. She is a two-time British national champion in ladies' singles. She reached the free skate at three ISU Championships and qualified for the 1998 Winter Olympics, but could not compete because of injury. As a pairs skater with Christopher Boyadji, she is a four-time national champion (2017–2020).
Ian Somerville is an American ice dancer. With his skating partner, Emily Bratti, he is the 2024 U.S. national bronze medalist and competed in the final segment at the 2022 Four Continents Championships.
Christopher Boyadji is a retired French pair skater who represents Great Britain. With former partner Zoe Jones, he is a four-time British national champion (2017-2020). With former partner Amani Fancy, he is a two-time national champion.
Olivia Smart is a British-Spanish ice dancer, who currently competes with Tim Dieck for Spain. She previously represented Spain partnered with Adrián Díaz. With Díaz, Smart was the 2021 Skate Canada International bronze medalist, a four-time Challenger Series medalist, and a three-time Spanish national champion. They represented Spain at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Harry Mattick is an English figure skater. He is the 2017 Sofia Trophy champion, the 2020 Tayside Trophy bronze medalist, the 2012 British national silver medalist, and a three-time British national bronze medalist.
Daniel "Danny" O'Shea is an American pair skater. He currently competes with Ellie Kam. With Kam, he is the 2024 Four Continents bronze medalist and 2024 U.S. national champion.
Tomoki Richard Hiwatashi is an American figure skater. He is the 2018 CS Inge Solar Memorial – Alpen Trophy bronze medalist and a two-time U.S. national medalist.
Amani Fancy is an English pair skater. With former skating partner Christopher Boyadji, she is the 2015 CS Tallinn Trophy bronze medalist and a two-time British national champion. After that she was a pro ice-skater on the German version of Dancing On Ice in 2019, before joining the British version in 2024. She studied at Royal Holloway, University of London (2016–2020).
Kristen Spours is an English figure skater. She has won eight senior international medals, competed in the final segment at three World Junior Championships, and has competed at two World Championships.
Christina Carreira is a Canadian-born ice dancer who competes for the United States. With her skating partner, Anthony Ponomarenko, she is a two-time Four Continents bronze medalist, the 2018 Rostelecom Cup bronze medalist, an eight-time medalist on the ISU Challenger Series, and a three-time U.S. national medalist.
