Lynn Polson Hamilton (born 19 April 1962) is a Canadian former basketball player. She competed for Canada in the women's basketball tournament at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where the Canadian team finished in fourth place. She then represented Canada at the 1986 FIBA World Championship for Women, where the team finished in third place and won a bronze medal.
Polson was born in St. Catharines, Ontario. Polson married rower Doug Hamilton, who also competed at the 1984 Olympics and won a bronze medal. She is the mother of NHL hockey players Dougie and Freddie Hamilton.

The UPEI Panthers are the men's and women's athletic teams that represent the University of Prince Edward Island in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada. The UPEI Panthers have teams playing in the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) conference of the U Sports, including men's and women's ice hockey, soccer, basketball, cross country running, curling as well as women's rugby. The Bishop's Gaiters is the men's and women's athletic teams that represent Bishop's University in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. The name Gaiter is a nickname used to refer to garments worn over the shoe and lower pants leg, worn by Anglican bishops until the beginning of the 20th century. The teams play in U Sports, mostly competing in the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ), while the football program competes in the Atlantic University Sport football conference. The Gaiters' home field is Coulter Field, a 2,200 seat capacity stadium located on the university's campus.
Basketball at the 1984 Summer Olympics was the eleventh appearance of the sport of basketball as an official Olympic medal event. It took place at The Forum in Inglewood, California, United States from July 29 to August 10. The United States won the gold medal in both events, with the women's team's victory marking their first-ever gold medal. Due to the boycott, the Soviet Union and Hungary withdrew from the tournament. The former, having already qualified for both events was replaced by West Germany in the men's competition, while both nations' women's teams were replaced by Australia and South Korea.

Song Xiaobo is a Chinese basketball player and coach. She is perhaps the most celebrated woman basketball player of the 1970s era in China; as a player she had outstanding all around ball skills, a very high level of athleticism, and a clear, bright, driving work ethic. Song was outstanding at every position from guard to center and she enjoys acclaim as "China's greatest female basketball player of all time". She is currently the CEO of a sports promotion company in Beijing.
Ilario Enrico "Eli" Pasquale was a Canadian basketball player and two-time Olympian. Considered one of the best basketball players in Canada's history, Pasquale was the starting point guard and co-captain of the Canada men's national basketball team during, arguably, Canada's greatest era of basketball. During this time, Pasquale competed in the 1984 and 1988 Olympics, two World Student Games, four FIBA World Championships and two Pan American games.

Carol Turney is a Canadian basketball player. She competed in the women's tournament at the 1976 Summer Olympics. She was a member of the Canadian team that won the bronze medal at the 1979 Pan American Games.
Joyce Slipp is a retired Canadian basketball player and head coach. As a member of the Canada women's national basketball team from 1969 to 1976, Slipp competed at the 1971 FIBA World Championship for Women, 1975 FIBA World Championship for Women and the 1976 Summer Olympics. In 1976, Slipp became the head coach of the University of New Brunswick women's basketball team, and later the women's field hockey team as well. During her tenures as head basketball coach from the 1970s to 2000s, Slipp had 263 wins and 171 losses. Slipp was named into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 1999 and Canada Basketball Hall of Fame in 2000.
Howard Kelsey is a former Canadian basketball player and two-time Olympian. He is one of only four athletes to be named to the Canada men's national basketball team immediately out of high school. Over the course of 11 years (1977-88), Kelsey represented Canada in many tournaments in over 400 total games, including two Olympics ; three FIBA World Championships; and two FISU World University Games, where Canada won gold in 1983.

Candace was granted the use of the post-nominal letters of OLY by the World Olympians Association in 2023 in recognition of being an Olympian from the 1984 Olympics.

Cynthia Johnston is a Canadian basketball player. She competed in the women's tournament at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. She attended Bishop's University in Quebec where she was named four time Bishop's University Female Athlete of the Year as well as two time conference most valuable player. Following her graduating in 1991, she played semi-professional as well as professional basketball in Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and Spain for nine years.
The Bishop's Gaiters women's basketball team represents Bishop's University in the RSEQ Conference of U Sports women's basketball. The program has captured the Bronze Baby twice, achieving the feat in back-to-back years (1983–84).
