The shooting competitions at the 1992 Summer Olympics took place at a shooting range complex in Mollet del Vallès outside Barcelona, Spain. Competitions were held in a total of thirteen events — seven men's events, four women's events, and two events open to both genders. It was the first time a woman took a gold medal in such an open event, and also the last time they were held.

Zorana Arunović is a Serbian sport shooter. She won 10 metre air pistol event at the 2010 World Shooting Championships and was later named Serbian Sportswoman of The Year by the Olympic Committee of Serbia. She also won individual gold medals in 10 m air pistol event at 2017 European Championships, and 2015 and 2019 European Games.
Dina Aspandiyarova, is a professional sporting shooter who has previously represented Kazakhstan and Russia and currently represents Australia in international competition. Aspandiyarova is from Tatar descent.

The men's ISSF 25 meter rapid fire pistol was a shooting sports event held as part of the shooting at the 1956 Summer Olympics programme. It was the 10th appearance of the event. The competition was held on 4 and 5 December 1956 at the shooting ranges in Melbourne. 35 shooters from 22 nations competed. Nations had been limited to two shooters each since 1952. The event was won by Ștefan Petrescu of Romania, the nation's first victory in the event. His countryman Gheorghe Lichiardopol repeated as bronze medalist, becoming the third man to win multiple rapid fire pistol medals. Between the two Romanians was Yevgeny Cherkasov with silver, earning the Soviet Union's first medal in the event.

The competition was held on 30 November 1956 at the shooting ranges in Melbourne. 33 shooters from 22 nations competed. Nations had been limited to two shooters each since the 1952 Games. The winner was Pentti Linnosvuo of Finland, the nation's first medal in the free pistol. The Soviet Union also won its first medal in the event, with Makhmud Umarov's silver. American Offutt Pinion took bronze.
Zhang Mengxue is a Chinese female sports shooter specialising in the 10 meter air pistol shooting. She won the gold medal in the 10 metres air pistol event at 2016 Summer Olympics.
Daniela Dumitrascu is a Romanian sport shooter. She competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics in the women's 25 metre pistol event, in which she tied for 14th place, and the women's 10 metre air pistol event, in which she placed seventh.
Christine Strahalm is an Austrian sport shooter. She competed at the 1988 Summer Olympics in the women's 25 metre pistol event, in which she tied for 16th place, and the women's 10 metre air pistol event, in which she placed eighth.
Kim Eagles is a Canadian sport shooter. Eagles won a gold medal at the 1999 Pan American Games in the 10 metre air pistol event. She also participated in the 2000 Summer Olympics in the 10 metre air pistol event.
Christine Trefry is an Australian sport shooter. She tied for fifteenth place in the women's 25 metre pistol event at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
