The Lăpuș (Hungarian : Lápos) is a right tributary of the river Someș in Romania. [1] [2] It originates in the Lăpuș Mountains, Maramureș County. It discharges into the Someș in Bușag, west of Baia Mare. [3] It flows through the communes Băiuț, Lăpuș, Târgu Lăpuș, Vima Mică, Șomcuta Mare, Remetea Chioarului, Coaș, Săcălășeni, Groși, Coltău, Recea and Tăuții-Măgherăuș. Its length is 119 km (74 mi) and its basin size is 1,875 km2 (724 sq mi). [2]

Bistrița (Siret)

The Bistrița is a river in the Romanian regions of Maramureș, Bukovina and Moldavia. It is a right tributary of the river Siret. At Chetriș, near Bacău, it flows into the Siret. Its source is in the Rodna Mountains, at the foot of the Gârgalău peak. It flows through the counties Bistrița-Năsăud, Suceava, Neamț and Bacău. The towns Vatra Dornei, Bicaz, Piatra Neamț, Roznov, Buhuși and Bacău lie along the Bistrița. The Bistrița is 283 km long, and its basin area is 7039 km².

Săsar

The Săsar is a right tributary of the river Lăpuș in Maramureș County, Romania. It discharges into the Lăpuș in Bozânta Mare, southwest of Baia Mare. It is a medium-size river which flows through the cities of Baia Sprie and Baia Mare. Its length is 31 km (19 mi) and its basin size is 306 km2 (118 sq mi).

Someș

The Someș is a left tributary of the Tisza in Hungary and Romania. It has a length of 415 km (258 mi), of which 50 km are in Hungary. The Someș is the fifth largest river by length and volume in Romania. The hydrographic basin forms by the confluence at Mica, a commune about 4 km upstream of Dej, of Someșul Mare and Someșul Mic rivers. Someșul Mic originates in the Apuseni Mountains, and Someșul Mare springs from the Rodna Mountains.

Băiuț is a commune in Maramureș County, Transylvania, Romania. It is composed of three villages: Baiuț, Strâmbu-Băiuț (Kohóvölgy), and Poiana Botizii (Rákosfalva).

Vișeu

The Vișeu in northern Romania is a left tributary of the river Tisza. Its source is in the Rodna Mountains. It passes through the following villages, communes and cities: Borșa (city), Moisei (commune), Vișeu de Sus (city), Vișeu de Jos (commune), Leordina (commune), Petrova (commune), Bistra (village), Valea Vișeului (village). In Valea Vișeului village, the river flows into the Tisza. Its length is 82 km (51 mi). Its drainage basin covers an area of 1,581 km2 (610 sq mi).

Someșul Mare

The Someșul Mare is a river in north-western Romania, originating in the Bistrița-Năsăud County in the Rodna Mountains at the confluence of two headwaters — the Preluci and the Zmeu. The Someșul Mare flows west through Rodna, Năsăud and Beclean, until it meets the Someșul Mic at Mica, upstream of Dej. Its length is 130 km (81 mi) and its basin size is 5,033 km2 (1,943 sq mi). Downstream from its confluence with the Someșul Mic, the river is called Someș.

Lotru

The Lotru is a right tributary of the river Olt in Romania. Its source is in the Parâng Mountains. It feeds the reservoirs Vidra, Malaia and Brădișor. It flows into the Olt in Golotreni, near the town Brezoi. It passes through the communes Voineasa, Malaia, and Brezoi. Its length is 83 km (52 mi) and its basin size is 990 km2 (380 sq mi).

The Sălaj is a left tributary of the river Someș in Romania. It discharges into the Someș in Sălsig. Its length is 39 km (24 mi) and its basin size is 457 km2 (176 sq mi).

The Firiza is a right tributary of the river Săsar in Maramureș County, Romania. It discharges into the Săsar in Baia Mare. Its length is 28 km (17 mi) and its basin size is 168 km2 (65 sq mi). The Strâmtori Dam is built on the river Firiza.

Mara (Iza)

The Mara is a left tributary of the river Iza in Romania. It discharges into the Iza in Vadu Izei. Its length is 38 km (24 mi) and its basin area is 410 km2 (160 sq mi). Its main tributary is the Cosău.

The Cicârlău is a right tributary of the river Someș in Romania. It discharges into the Someș in the village Ilba. Its length is 13 km (8.1 mi) and its basin size is 24 km2 (9.3 sq mi).

Strei

The Strei is a left tributary of the river Mureș in Transylvania, Romania. The upper reach of the river, upstream of the village of Baru, is also known as Râul Petros. It flows through the town Călan and the villages Petros, Baru, Livadia, Pui, Galați, Băiești, Ohaba de sub Piatră, Ciopeia, Subcetate, Covragiu, Bretea Română, Bretea Streiului, Ruși, Strei, Streisângeorgiu, Batiz, Băcia and Simeria Veche. It discharges into the Mureș near Simeria. Its length is 93 km (58 mi) and its basin size is 1,983 km2 (766 sq mi).

The Strâmbul Băiuț is a right tributary of the river Lăpuș in Romania. It flows into the Lăpuș in the village Strâmbu-Băiuț. Its length is 9 km (5.6 mi) and its basin size is 32 km2 (12 sq mi).

Iza (river) Tributary of the Tisa River in Romania

The Iza is a left tributary of the river Tisa in northern Romania. Its source is in the Rodna Mountains. It flows into the Tisa near the city Sighetu Marmației. It passes through the communes Săcel, Săliștea de Sus, Dragomirești, Bogdan Vodă, Șieu, Rozavlea, Strâmtura, Bârsana, Oncești, Vadu Izei, and Sighetu Marmației. Its drainage basin covers an area of 1,293 km2 (499 sq mi). Its length is 80 km (50 mi).

Cavnic (river)

The Cavnic is a right tributary of the river Lăpuș in Maramureș County, Romania. It discharges into the Lăpuș at Întrerâuri, near Copalnic-Mănăștur. Its length is 37 km (23 mi) and its basin size is 256 km2 (99 sq mi).

The Suciu is a left tributary of the river Lăpuș in Maramureș County, Romania. It discharges into the Lăpuș in Dămăcușeni. The section upstream from the confluence with the Brad is also referred to as Minget. Its length is 36 km (22 mi) and its basin size is 245 km2 (95 sq mi).

The Râoaia is a left tributary of the river Lăpuș in Maramureș County, Romania. It discharges into the Lăpuș in the town Lăpuș. Its length is 15 km (9.3 mi) and its basin size is 48 km2 (19 sq mi).

The Chechiș is a right tributary of the river Lăpuș in Maramureș County, Romania. It flows into the Lăpuș near the village Chechiș. Its length is 22 km (14 mi) and its basin size is 101 km2 (39 sq mi).

Bârsa (Olt)

The Bârsa is a left tributary of the river Olt in Romania. It discharges into the Olt near Feldioara. Its source is in the Făgăraș Mountains. As several tributaries also have the name Bârsa, in order to differentiate them, the main course of the river is frequently referred to as Bârsa Mare. The river Ghimbășel, formerly a direct tributary of the Olt, was redirected towards the Bârsa. Its length is 73 km (45 mi) and its basin size is 937 km2 (362 sq mi).
