M-Doc is a rap artist and producer who was signed to RCA Records and Smash Records in the 1990s. He scored minor chart success with the singles "Free" and "It's a Summer Thang" featuring Chantay Savage. [1] [2] He is currently the president of Indasoul Entertainment.
Williams grew up on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Whitney Young High School in 1987, where he played basketball and was nicknamed "Doc", because he liked NBA basketball star Julius Erving. Williams stated that he started off with a group of friends on the South Side, and used to go to his basement, where his father had enough equipment to get some beats together. They made eight different songs, put them on tape, and sold them at their high schools by hand. The group was called "BP3", because all three members were basketball players. [3]
Local producer Steve "Silk" Hurley heard one of the tapes, and the two collaborated to record "It's Percussion", with Hurley handling the music and Williams billed as "M-Doc" for the first time, rapping. The single came out on London's Jack Trax Records. He then signed with Smash Records and released his first album, Universal Poet, in 1991, which featured two singles "Are U Wid It?" (which sampled Prince's "I Wanna Be Your Lover") and "Whatever U Need". [3]
He then signed with RCA Records and released his second album, M. Doc Wit Stevio: C'mon Getcha Groove On in 1995, which featured "It's a Summer Thang" featuring Chantay Savage, and another single "Like 'Em Like That (Guess I'm Just a Freak)". In 1996, he produced music in the Midway video game NBA Hangtime.
In 1998, he released his third and final album Young, Black, Rich and Famous , which included "Free"(a Deniece Williams song) featuring Cristina Sanchez.
In the late 1990s, he produced remixes for Madonna, Janet Jackson and Keith Sweat. [4] Billboard called him "one of the R&B worlds top remixers." [1] Also, CeCe Peniston who sung background vocals on one of his tracks on his third album ("Keep It Real").

Take That & Party is the debut studio album by English boy band Take That. Released on 17 August 1992 on RCA Records, it reached number two on the UK Albums Chart and stayed in the UK Top 75 album chart for 73 weeks. It was their only album not to reach number one until Wonderland peaked at number two in 2017.
Finally is the debut album by American singer CeCe Peniston, released on January 30, 1992 by A&M Records. Prior to the release of this album, Peniston released her debut single "Finally", which topped the US Billboard Hot Dance Music Club Play chart on October 26, 1991, peaking eventually at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and at number two in the UK Singles Chart. The album yielded two additional singles which achieved dance number one status in the US; "We Got a Love Thang", co-written by Chantay Savage, and "Keep On Walkin'", written in collaboration with Kym Sims. However, during its thirty-six weeks long presence in the chart it sold over 554,000 copies in the US. The album peaked at number ten on the UK Albums Chart. The total worldwide sales of the album surpassed 3,000,000 units. Two further tracks were released from the album which were more in the R&B field; "Inside That I Cried" charted at number ten in the US R&B chart and at number forty-two in the UK, while "Crazy Love" peaked at number thirty-one in the US and at number forty-four in the UK. The album was part of the resurgence of dance music in the United States during the mid-1990s.
Game Related is the second studio album by American rap group The Click, released November 7, 1995, on Jive and Sick Wid It Records. The album features production by Mike Mosley, Roger Troutman, Studio Ton and Tone Capone. It peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and at number 21 on the Billboard 200. Two singles were released, "Hurricane" and "Scandalous", and both appeared on multiple Billboard singles charts. American recording artist CeCe Peniston entered the music industry as a backup vocalist on the Overweight Pooch's album Female Preacher, released in July 1991 on A&M Records. Shortly before that though, she was featured on the B-side to 12-inch single "I Can't Take the Power" by a male rapper, Marvelous JC.
