Virudhachalam or Vriddhachalam is a Town and taluk headquarters in Cuddalore district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The ancient name of this town is Thirumudhukundram. As per the 2011 census, the town had a population of 73,585 of which 37,066 are males while 36,519 are females. Population of children in the ages of 0-6 is 7735 which is 10.51 % of the total population. The old Lord Siva temple is located in the heart of town. This is the 41st Devaram Padal Petra Siva Thiruthalam and 9th Thiruthalam in Nadu Naadu(நடுனாடு). Moovar has sung hymns in praise of Lord Siva of this temple. The temple was constructed by one of the Chola Emperors. The famous Kolanjiappar Temple is located 3 km away from the town. Both of them are situated near Cuddalore - Salem highway in Virudhachalam.

South Arcot District was a district in the Madras Presidency of British India. The district was divided into eight taluks and covered a total area of 13,510 square kilometres (5,217 sq mi). The administrative headquarters was the town of Cuddalore.

Pulavanur is a village in Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu, India. It is located on the southern bank of the Thenpennai River (Pennaiaru). Pulavanur has several temples and notable among them are Kalyana Venkateswara temple, Mariamman temple and a locally quite famous Draupati Amman temple. Every year in the month of march, a festival called Theemithi Thiruvizha is celebrated at Draupati Amman temple. As part of the temple festival an annual therukkooththu based on Mahabharata themes has been staged for more than 100 years and it has been a major attraction for the villages around Pulavanur. The village is approximately 7.5 km from Panruti one of the major commercial center for jack fruit markets and cashew markets in Tamil Nadu. Pulavanur village can be reached from Vikravandi via state highway 36 right after crossing the Penniar river on the main trunk road to Panruti and Kumbakonam. Pulavanur and Kandarakkottai are two nearby villages on either side of the main trunk road.

The Chennai Egmore–Thanjavur main line connects Chennai Egmore and Thanjavur Junction both in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Chennai Egmore–Thanjavur main line is part of Chennai–Viluppuram–Chidambaram-Mayiladuthurai–Kumbakonam–Thanjavur–Tiruchirappalli line. There are several branch lines : Chengalpattu–Arakkonam links to Chennai Central–Bengaluru City line, Guntakal–Chennai Egmore section, Viluppuram–Puducherry, Cuddalore–Virudhachalam, Mayiladuthurai–Thiruvarur, and Peralam–Nagapattinam sectors. Aminjikarai taluk is a taluk of the city district of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It was formed in December 2013 from parts of the erstwhile Perambur-Purasawalkam taluk and the Egmore-Nungambakkam taluk.
