The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are central government-owned-public business schools for management offering undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and executive programmes along with some additional courses in the field of business administration. The establishment of IIMs was initiated by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of India, based on the recommendation of the Planning Commission of India.
Indian Institute of Management Calcutta is a public business school located in Joka, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It was the first Indian Institute of Management to be established, and has been recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India in 2017. Programmes offered by IIM Calcutta include a two-year full-time MBA,a one-year full-time Post Graduate Diploma(PGPEX-VLM), a one-year MBA for experienced executives, Doctor of Business Administration programme, a two-year full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics, and a one-year full-time programme in Healthcare Management. IIM Calcutta is one of only three triple accredited business schools in India, and the first to get the recognition. It is also the only business school in India which is a part of the CEMS Global Alliance in Management Education.
The Indian Institute of Management Indore is an autonomous public business school located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh in India. Instituted in 1996, IIM Indore is the sixth addition to the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) family of management schools and was named as an institute of national importance in 2017 along with the other IIMs.

The Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras, also known as DoMS, IIT Madras is a business school under the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in Chennai, India.

Arunachalam Vellayan is a member of the Murugappa family and the vice-chairman of the Murugappa Group, based in Chennai, India. Srikant Datar is an Indian-American economist and the Dean of Harvard Business School. At Harvard, he concurrently serves as the Arthur Lowes Dickinson Professor of Business Administration. In 2021, he was awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award in India.
Prof. Rajat K Baisya is an Indian management professor, author, and researcher. He was formerly Professor & Dean of Dept of Management Education, IIT Delhi. He was awarded Canada Gairdner International Award for the year 1974. He was also awarded Dr J.S.Pruthi Award for the year 2001 for significant contribution to the food industry.
