M. K. Kannan (born 29 December 1948 ) [1] is an Indian politician and leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He was the former general secretary of Communist Marxist Party. [2] He represented Thrissur constituency in the Kerala Legislative Assembly from 1980 to 1982. [3] He is the first Vice president of Kerala Bank. [4]
Elamkulam Manakkal Sankaran Namboodiripad,popularly known as 'E.M.S. Namboodiripad' or simply by his initials 'E. M. S.',was an Indian communist politician and theorist,who served as the first Chief Minister of Kerala in 1957–1959 and then again in 1967–1969. As a member of the Communist Party of India (CPI),he became the first non-Congress Chief Minister in the Indian republic. In 1964,he led a faction of the CPI that broke away to form the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

He again contested from the same constituency in 2016 and 2021. but he got defeated in both elections,i.e. for 9543 votes in 2016 and it increased to 14262 votes in 2021. He was defeated by K. Ansalan of CPI(M) in both elections.
