MSC Prestige is a container ship (IMO 9321029) that collided with a large tanker MV Samco Europe , off the Red Sea traffic separation scheme of Bab-el-Mandeb on 7 December 2007. Both vessels suffered severe damage at their bows and had to undergo major repairs.

An official report was compiled. [3]

The vessel was subsequently renamed back to MOL Prestige.

<i>SuperStar Gemini</i> (2012)

MS SuperStar Gemini is a cruise ship owned and operated by Star Cruises. She was built in 1992 by the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in St. Nazaire, France as MS Dreamward for traffic with Norwegian Cruise Line. In 1998 she was lengthened at Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven, Germany and renamed as Norwegian Dream. In late 2012, she was transferred to the fleet of Star Cruises and renamed SuperStar Gemini.

IMO number International ship identification number

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) number is a unique identifier for ships, registered ship owners and management companies. IMO numbers were introduced to improve maritime safety and security and to reduce maritime fraud. They consist of the three letters "IMO" followed by unique seven-digit numbers, assigned under the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS).

CMA CGM Vela is a container ship operated by CMA CGM. The ship is owned by Reederei NSB and operated by CMA CGM. The CMA CGM Vela was finished in 2008 by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Ltd and delivered to the owner on 19 October 2008. The ship was carrying yard number DSME hull 4125 and after launching it was christened in the ships home port Hamburg, Germany.

MV <i>Peveril</i> (1963)

MV Peveril was a coastal cargo vessel operated by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company. Peveril, the third ship in the Company's history to bear the name, was built by Ailsa Shipbuilding Company at Troon, Scotland, in 1964.

The Type C7 ship(Lancer Class) is a United States Maritime Administration (MARAD) designation for a cargo ship and the first US purpose-built container ship. The vessels were constructed in US shipyards and entered service starting in 1968. As US-built ships they were Jones Act qualified for shipments between US domestic ports. Under the Jones Act domestic US maritime trade is restricted to US-built and flagged vessels of US owners and manned by predominantly US-citizen crews. The last active Lancer container-configured ship was scrapped in 2019. Lancers of the vehicle Roll-on/Roll-off (RO/RO) configuration remain held in the Ready Reserve Force, National Defense Reserve Fleet and the US Navy Military Sealift Command. All are steam powered.

<i>MOL Comfort</i> Container ship

MOL Comfort was a 2008-built Bahamian-flagged post-Panamax container ship chartered by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines. The vessel was launched in 2008 as APL Russia and sailed under that name until 2012, when the ship was renamed to MOL Comfort. On 17 June 2013, she broke in two about 200 nautical miles off the coast of Yemen. The aft section sank on 27 June and the bow section, after having been destroyed by fire, on 11 July.

MOL Presence is a container ship, operated by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines. The cargo ship was built in 2008 at Koyo Dockyard in Mihara, Japan. The ship has total capacity for 6,350 TEU at 16 rows with 500 reefer plugins.

<i>CMA CGM Kerguelen</i>

CMA CGM Kerguelen is a 17,722 TEU very large UK flagged Explorer class container ship owned by the French shipping company CMA CGM. As of August 2015, it was the largest container ship in the fleet of CMA CGM. The ship is named for French-Breton naval officer and explorer Yves-Joseph de Kerguelen-Trémarec. The Captain of the Ship is Captain Lester John Miole MM.

MV <i>Span Asia 25</i>

MV Span Asia 25 is a container vessel owned and operated by the Philippine Span Asia Carrier Corporation (PSACC). She is the former Heidi B up until September 1994, Maersk Euro Quinto until May 1997, Helgafell up until March 2005, Seaboard Rio Haina up until June 2008, Rio Bogota until December 2009, and Mohegan up until 2016. She was built at Orskov Shipbuilders Yard - Frederikshavn, Denmark in 1994 with IMO number 9100243 and MMSI number 54840200. She has a tonnage of 6158 tons. Her deadweight is 7850 tons and has a length of 121.9 m and beam of 20.1 m.

<i>Maersk Honam</i> Container ship

Maersk Honam is a container ship operated by Maersk Line. The vessel caught fire on 6 March 2018 while sailing in the Arabian Sea. Five members of the crew of 27 were killed, including one rescued crew member who died later from injuries.

<i>Ever Given</i> Panama Flagged container ship

Ever Given is one of the largest container ships in the world. The ship is owned by Shoei Kisen Kaisha, and is time chartered and operated by container transportation and shipping company Evergreen Marine, headquartered in Luzhu, Taoyuan, Taiwan. Ever Given is registered in Panama and its technical management is the responsibility of the German ship management company Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM).
