Macedonia participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Sofia, Bulgaria. On 24 July 2015, it was confirmed that they would return to the contest after a one-year absence. The national broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) held auditions at their studios in September 2015. Ivana Petkovska & Magdalena Aleksovska represented Macedonia with the song "Pletenka - Braid of Love". Unfortunately, the country ended in 17th place (last) with 26 points.
It was announced on 24 July 2015, by the national broadcaster MRT, that Macedonia would be returning to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, after last taking part at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2013. [1] MRT held auditions at their broadcasting studios in September 2015, after making an invitation for submissions of participants and songs. [2] On 17 September 2015, MRT announced that they had internally selected Ivana Petkovska and Magdalena Aleksovska to represent Macedonia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015, to be held in neighbouring Bulgaria. Ivana Petkovska and Magdalena Aleksovska who were both 13 at the time of the contest, come from the Macedonian capital, Skopje.
Ivana Petkovska (Macedonian : Ивана Петковска) was born on 14 April 2002 in Skopje, Macedonia. She is an 8th grade pupil at the primary school Dimitar Makedonski. She made her first steps in music when she was only 5, performing at the Potochinja children's festival. After three years she joined KUD Nikola Jonkov Vapcarov, a Macedonian national folklore ensemble, taking part in several performances in the country and abroad. In addition to dancing, she has also sung Macedonian folk songs at a large number of concerts throughout Macedonia. Ivana is also a member of her school choir.
Magdalena Aleksovska (Macedonian : Магдалена Алексовска) was born on 24 January 2002 in Skopje, Macedonia. She is a 9th grade primary school pupil. She is a sixth grade student in the State Music Ballet Centre, Skopje. Magdalena was a member of the Zlatno Slavejche (Golden Nightingale) children's festival choir from 2009 to 2014. She also plays flute and recorded her first song, Pupil in 2010. She has performed at several international children's festivals (including Istanbul and Belgrade), as well as national and international competitions (including Struga and Prilep, Macedonia). Magdalena's most significant performance was at the Slavyanskiy Bazar 2013 international children's festival in Vitebsk, Belarus.
Pletenka - Braid of Love (English: Braid) is a song by Macedonian child singers Ivana Petkovska and Magdalena Aleksovska. It represented Macedonia in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
At the running order draw which took place on 15 November 2015, Macedonia were drawn to perform ninth on 21 November 2015, following Russia and preceding Belarus. [3]
The final was broadcast in Macedonia on MRT 1 with commentary by Tina Tautovic and Spasija Veljanoska. The Macedonian spokesperson, who announced the Macedonian votes during the final, was Aleksandrija Čaliovski.
Ivana and Magdalena started their performance in the center of the stage, together with their three dancers, making a circle. The camera focused on their feet, right before the song started and the dancers started to move. Magdalena was wearing trousers and a hat and Ivana was wearing a black dress with flowers. The dancers were wearing pink vests. All 5 girls were wearing braids (like the title of the song, 'Pletenka').
At the end of the voting, Macedonia placed 17th (last) with 26 points. [4]
The voting during the final consisted of 50 percent public televoting and 50 percent from a jury deliberation. The jury consisted of five music industry professionals who were citizens of the country they represent, with their names published before the contest to ensure transparency. This jury was asked to judge each contestant based on: vocal capacity; the stage performance; the song's composition and originality; and the overall impression by the act. In addition, no member of a national jury could be related in any way to any of the competing acts in such a way that they cannot vote impartially and independently. The individual rankings of each jury member were released one month after the final.
Following the release of the full split voting by the EBU after the conclusion of the competition, it was revealed that Macedonia had placed 15th with the public televote and 17th (last) with the jury vote. In the public vote, Macedonia scored 22 points, while with the jury vote, Macedonia scored 12 points. [5]

Macedonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with the song "Make My Day" written by Dragan Vučić and Branka Kostić. The song was performed by Martin Vučić. The Macedonian broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) organised the national final Makedonski Evrosong 2005 in order to select the Macedonian entry for the 2005 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. Five artists were presented to the public in November 2004 and an eight-member jury panel and a public televote selected two artists to qualify to the compete in the competition on 19 February 2005, where "Ti si son" performed by Martin Vučić was selected following two rounds of voting from a twelve-member jury panel, an audience vote and a public televote. The song was later translated from Macedonian to English for the Eurovision Song Contest and was titled "Make My Day".
Macedonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 with the song "Life" written by Jovan Jovanov and Ilija Nikolovski. The song was performed by Toše Proeski, who was internally selected by the Macedonian broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) to compete for Macedonia at the 2004 contest in Istanbul, Turkey. MRT returned to the Eurovision Song Contest after a one-year absence following their relegation from 2003 as one of the bottom five countries in the 2002 contest. Toše Proeski's appointment as the Macedonian representative was announced on 7 June 2003, while MRT organised Skopje Fest 2004 in order to select his song. Eight songs competed in the competition on 14 February 2004 where "Angel si ti" was selected following the combination of votes from an eleven-member jury panel, Proeski himself and a public televote. The song was later translated from Macedonian to English for the Eurovision Song Contest and was titled "Life".
Macedonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "Jas ja imam silata" written by Kristijan Gabroski. The song was performed by Gjoko Taneski featuring Billy Zver and Pejčin. The Macedonian broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) organised Skopje Fest 2010 in order to select the Macedonian entry for the 2010 contest in Oslo, Norway. 28 entries competed in the competition which consisted of three shows: two semi-finals and a final. Fourteen songs competed in each semi-final and the top eight from each semi-final qualified to the final. In the final, "Jas ja imam silata" performed by Gjoko Taneski was selected following the combination of votes from a six-member jury panel and a public televote.
Macedonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song "Rusinka" written by Grigor Koprov, Jovan Jovanov, Vladimir Dojčinovski and Marko Marinković. The song was performed by Vlatko Ilievski. The Macedonian broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) organised Skopje Fest 2011 in order to select the Macedonian entry for the 2011 contest in Düsseldorf, Germany. Twenty entries competed in the competition on 27 February 2011 where "Rusinka" performed by Vlatko Ilievski was selected following the combination of votes from a fifteen-member jury panel and a public televote.
Macedonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with the song "Crno i belo" written by Kaliopi and Romeo Grill. The song was performed by Kaliopi, who was internally selected by the Macedonian broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) to compete for Macedonia at the 2012 contest in Baku, Azerbaijan. Kaliopi's appointment as the Macedonian representative was announced on 19 November 2011, while her song, "Crno i belo", was presented to the public in a television special titled Evrosong 2012 on 29 February 2012.
Macedonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Pred da se razdeni" written by Darko Dimitrov, Lazar Cvetkoski, Simeon Atanasov and Magdalena Cvetkoska. The song was performed by Esma and Lozano, which were internally selected by the Macedonian broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) to compete for Macedonia at the 2013 contest in Malmö, Sweden. Esma and Lozano's appointment as the Macedonian representatives were announced on 29 December 2012, while their song, "Imperija", was presented to the public in a television special on 27 February 2013. "Imperija" was later withdrawn due to negative reactions from the public and replaced with the song "Pred da se razdeni", which was presented to the public on 15 March 2013.

The Macedonian broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) organised Skopje Fest 2014 in order to select the Macedonian entry for the 2015 contest in Vienna, Austria. Twenty entries competed in the competition on 12 November 2014 where "Lisja esenski" performed by Daniel Kajmakoski was selected following the combination of votes from seven international jury groups and a public televote. The song was later translated from Macedonian to English for the Eurovision Song Contest and was titled "Autumn Leaves".
Belarus participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with the song "Volshebstvo (Magic)" written by Vitaliy Kurovskiy, Ruslan Aslanov. The song was performed by Ruslan Aslanov. The Belarusian entry for the 2015 contest in Sofia, Bulgaria was selected through a national final organised by the Belarusian broadcaster National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus (BTRC). The national final consisted of ten competing acts participating in a televised production where the winner was determined by a 50/50 combination of both telephone vote and the votes of jury members made up of music professionals. After winning both the televote and jury vote, Ruslan Aslanov and his song "Volshebstvo" were declared the winners.
Bulgaria participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015, as the host country, after Italy who had won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014, declined the invitation from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to host the contest. The event took place at the Arena Armeec on 21 November 2015. National broadcasters Bulgarian National Television (BNT) and bTV jointly organised the national selection process, in order to decide who would represent them on home soil.
Armenia participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Sofia, Bulgaria. On 11 June 2015 it was confirmed that they would use internal selection. Michael Varosyan (Mika) was selected as the Armenian representative on 14 July with his song "Love", being selected on 6 October.
Macedonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Dona" written by Kaliopi and Romeo Grill. The song was performed by Kaliopi, who was internally selected by the Macedonian broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) to compete for Macedonia at the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden. Kaliopi previously represented Macedonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with the song "Crno i belo", placing thirteenth in the final of the competition. At the time of Kaliopi's selection, the last time Macedonia qualified to compete in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest was when she represented the nation in 2012. Kaliopi's appointment as the Macedonian representative was announced on 24 November 2015, while her song, "Dona", was presented to the public in a television special titled Kaliopi za Makedonija on 7 March 2016.
Russia participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 which took place on 20 November 2016, in Valletta, Malta. The Russian broadcaster Russia-1, owned by the All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK) was responsible for organising their entry for the contest. Sofia Fisenko won the national final on 16 August 2016 with the song "Zhivaya voda". On 6 October, the Russian organisation team opted to change the name of the entrant to Water of Life Project, with the song also changing to "Water of Life".
North Macedonia participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 which took place on 20 November 2016, in Valletta, Malta, under the provisional reference of "Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia". The North Macedonian broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) was responsible for organising their entry for the contest. Martija Stanojković was internally selected to represent North Macedonia with the song "Love Will Lead Our Way".
Ukraine participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016. The Ukrainian entrant for the 2016 contest in Valletta, Malta was selected through a national selection, organised by the Ukrainian broadcaster National Television Company of Ukraine (NTU). The semi-final took place on 13 August 2016, while the final took place on 10 September 2016. The winner was Sofia Rol with the song "Planet Craves For Love".
Macedonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song "Dance Alone" written by Borislav Milanov, Alex Omar, Joacim Persson and Florence A. The song was performed by Jana Burčeska, who was internally selected by the Macedonian broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) to compete for Macedonia at the 2017 contest in Kyiv, Ukraine. Jana Burčeska's appointment as the Macedonian representative was announced on 21 November 2016, while her song, "Dance Alone", was presented to the public during the MRT programme Stisni Plej on 10 March 2017.
Macedonia participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017 which took place on 25 November 2017 in Tbilisi, Georgia. The Macedonian broadcaster MRT was responsible for organising their entry for the contest. Mina Blažev was internally selected on 8 September 2017 as the Macedonian representative and her song for the contest, "Dancing Through Life", was presented on 8 October 2017.
Macedonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song "Lost and Found" written by Bojan Trajkovski and Darko Dimitrov. The song was performed by the group Eye Cue, which were internally selected by the Macedonian broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) to compete for Macedonia at the 2018 contest in Lisbon, Portugal. Eye Cue's appointment as the Macedonian representative was announced on 13 February 2018, while their song, "Lost and Found", was presented to the public on 11 March 2018.

Macedonian broadcaster MRT was responsible for organising their entry for the contest. Marija Spasovska was internally selected on 18 August 2018 as the Macedonian representative.
North Macedonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song "Proud" written by Darko Dimitrov, Robert Bilbilov, Lazar Cvetkoski, Kosta Petrov and Sanja Popovska. The song was performed by Tamara Todevska, who was internally selected by the Macedonian broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) to compete for Macedonia at the 2019 contest in Tel Aviv, Israel. Todevska previously represented Macedonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "Let Me Love You" together with Vrčak and Adrijan but failed to qualify to the final. Tamara Todevska's appointment as the Macedonian representative was announced on 25 January 2019, while her song, "Proud", was presented to the public on 8 March 2019.
North Macedonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, with the song "Circles" performed by Andrea. North Macedonia's public broadcaster Macedonian Radio Television (MRT) organised the national final Za Evrosong 2022 in order to select the country's entry for the 2022 contest. Six entries competed in the national final and "Circles" performed by Andrea was announced as the winner on 4 February 2022 following the combination of votes from a five-member international jury panel and a public vote.
