Madeleine Henfling (born 11th April 1983 in Ilmenau) is a German politician (Alliance 90/The Greens).
Between 2014 and 2024 she was an MP in the state parliament of Thuringa and between May 2020 and September 2024 Vice-president of the Landtag. She was the ‘Spitzenkandidat’ for the Alliance 90/The Greens during the 2024 Thuringa elections. [1]
After graduating from high school, she studied history, African studies and Dutch linguistics at the University of Cologne and the University of Leiden from 2001 to 2008. In 2007, she joined Alliance 90/The Greens and was accepted in joining a trainee program in the party's federal association.
She became active for the party in Thuringia and was nominated as her party's direct candidate in the Ilm-Kreis I constituency for the 2009 state election. She received 5.1 percent of the vote.
At the end of November 2009, Madeleine Henfling and Dieter Lauinger were elected chairmen of the state association at the state party conference of the Thuringian Greens. [2] Henfling, who ran unopposed, was elected with 78.9 percent of the vote. She has been a member of the Ilm district council since 2010. In the 2012 local elections, she ran for the office of district administrator in the Ilm district and received 4.6 percent of the vote.
In the 2014 and 2019 state elections, Henfling was elected a member of the Thuringian state parliament after coming fifth on her party's state list. [3] Since March 2020 she has been the Parliamentary Managing Director of the Alliance 90/The Greens parliamentary group in the Thuringian state parliament.
Madeleine Henfling has been Vice President of the Thuringian State Parliament since May 2020.
Henfling is married and has three children. [4]
She gained the greatest notoriety through a long dispute over childcare for politicians in 2023 and 2024. She brought her 5-month-old child with her to the state parliament session because she did not have anyone who could take care of her child, and was then excluded by the President of Parliament. The Landtag of Thuringia is the parliament of the German federal state of Thuringia. It convenes in Erfurt and currently consists of 88 members from five parties. According to the free state's constitution, the primary functions of the Landtag are to pass laws, elect the Minister-President and control the government of Thuringia.

Siegfried Rudolf Geißler was a German composer, conductor, hornist and politician. He founded the Thüringen Philharmonie Suhl in 1979. After the Wende, he was a member of the New Forum who was elected to the first Landtag of Thuringia in 1990. As its senior, he was its Father of the House and opened the inaugural session.
Tessa Ganserer is a German politician who has served as a member of the Bundestag since 26 October 2021. Previously, she was a member of the Landtag of Bavaria, representing the constituency of Middle Franconia on the Alliance '90/The Greens list. The 2020 Thuringian government crisis, also known as the Thuringia crisis, was triggered by the election of Thomas Kemmerich (FDP) as Thuringian Minister President with votes from the AfD, CDU and FDP on February 5, 2020. The election attracted considerable national and international attention because, for the first time in the history of the Federal Republic of Germany, a Minister President was elected with votes from a far-right populist party, in this case the AfD.
Aminata Touré is a German politician of Alliance 90/The Greens, the German green party, who has been serving as Deputy Minister-President since 1 August 2024 and Minister of Social Affairs, Youth, Family, Senior Citizens, Integration and Equality of the State of Schleswig-Holstein since 29 June 2022. Bernhard Stengele is a German director, actor, and politician of Alliance 90/The Greens, who has been serving as Second Deputy Minister-President and Minister for the Environment, Energy and Nature Conservation in the Thuringia state government since February 2023. Between January 2020 and March 2023, he served as co-spokesperson of the party in Thuringia.
Anja Siegesmund is a German politician of Alliance 90/The Greens. Between 2014 and 2023, she served as Minister of the Environment in the state government of Thuringia in the coalition government of Bodo Ramelow. Until 31 January 2023, she was also Second Deputy Minister-President of Thuringia. From 2009 to 2014 she was leader of the Greens parliamentary group in the Landtag of Thuringia. She was a member of the Landtag from 2009 to 2015, then again from 2019 to 2020. In December 2022 she announced her imminent resignation from her political offices; on 1 February 2023 she was succeeded by Bernhard Stengele.
The 2024 Saxony state election was held on 1 September 2024 to elect members to the 8th Landtag of Saxony. It was held on the same day as the 2024 Thuringian state election. Going into the election, the state government was led by Michael Kretschmer of the CDU as Minister-President, in a coalition with the Greens and the SPD.

The Citizens for Thuringia was a political party in Thuringia in Germany between 2020 and 2024. After party defections, it was represented in the Landtag of Thuringia with four seats. The party dissolved in 2024 to join the Values Union. The association of the same name, however, remained in existence.

From 30 August 2017 to 5 February 2020, Maier was Minister of the Interior of the Free State of Thuringia in the First Ramelow cabinet. On 4 March 2020, he was reappointed minister of his previous ministry in the Second Ramelow cabinet. He has been state chairman of the SPD Thuringia since 26 September 2020 and deputy prime minister of Thuringia since 31 August 2021.
