Mae Tischer (October 16, 1928 – January 18, 2018) was an American politician.
Tischer was born in Minnesota. In 1962, Tischer moved to Alaska with her family and lived in a homestead at Goose Creek for three years. In 1965, she moved again to Anchorage, Alaska, so that her children could attend highschool. She met "Ticsh" Tisher on the Alcan Highway in 1965, whom she was married to until his death in a car crash in 1972. [1]
Tischer served as district director for the Alaska Muscular Dystrophy Association in Anchorage, Alaska. In 1983 and 1984, Tischer served in the Alaska House of Representatives and was a Republican. [2] Tischer died at the Anchorage Pioneer House in Anchorage, Alaska on January 18, 2018. [3] [4]

In a political career in which she started appearing in the spotlight in 1975, she represented Anchorage in the Alaska Senate from 1979 to 1993. Twice during off-years in re-election to her four-year Senate term, she won the Republican nomination for governor of Alaska against mostly conservative opposition in blanket primaries. The second time, in 1990, she came out in third place behind Walter Hickel and runner up Tony Knowles, which was the second of three times in Alaska's history a major-party nominee placed third. She won a 2000 Anchorage Athena award.

Olga Katherine Torkelsen Hurley was the secretary to Alaska Territorial Governor Ernest Gruening from 1944 until his departure from office in 1953. She was Chief Clerk to the Alaska Constitutional Convention from 1955 to 1956 and the secretary to the State Senate for five terms. In 1984, she was elected to seat 16-A in the Alaska House, serving until January 1987.

Fritz Pettyjohn is a Republican politician in the U.S. state of Alaska. He was born in Berkeley, California in 1945. He received a BA in Political Science from UC Berkeley in 1967 and a JD from UCLA in 1974. He served in the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps as a Midshipman from 1962 to 1963. He was elected to the Alaska Senate in 1982 and served for one term. He was elected to the Alaska House of Representatives in 1984 and was reelected in 1986 and 1988. After leaving the legislature, he wrote biweekly political columns for the Anchorage Daily News. In 2001, he moved back to California. He has been married to his wife for 48 years and he has three sons and five grandchildren.
