Mtwara Region Region of Tanzania

Mtwara Region is one of Tanzania's 31 administrative regions. The regional capital is the municipality of Mtwara. According to the 2012 national census, the region had a population of 1,270,854, which was lower than the pre-census projection of 1,374,767. For 2002-2012, the region's 1.2 percent average annual population growth rate was the 26th highest in the country. It was also the fourteenth most densely populated region with 76 people per square kilometer.

Mbeya Region is now bordered to the northwest by Tabora Region, to the northeast by Singida Region, to the east by Iringa Region, to the south by Songwe Region and Malawi, and to the west by Songwe Region. Prior to the creation of Songwe Region, Mbeya Region covered an area of 62,420 square kilometres (24,100 sq mi). It now covers an area of 35,954 square kilometres (13,882 sq mi).

Simiyu Region is one of Tanzania's 31 administrative regions. The regional capital is the town of Bariadi. Simiyu Region is named after the Simiyu River. The region is home to the Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, shared with Mara Region. The region was created in March 2012, from part of Shinyanga Region.
