Magnetic Maharashtra is a summit held in Maharashtra, India, aimed to attract investment into the economy of Maharashtra. [1] [2]

2018

The 2018 edition of the summit, called Magnetic Maharashtra: Convergence 2018, was organised from 18 to 20 February 2018, at MMRDA Ground, Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai, India. [3] The event was inaugurated by the ten Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis [4] and was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi [5] and NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant. [6] The summit attracted an investment of 12.1 trillion (US$150 billion) [7] with 35,000 crore (US$4.4 billion) in the renewable energy sector. [8]

2020

The second edition of the summit. called Magnetic Maharashtra 2.0 was launched in June, 2020, [9] amid the COVID-19 pandemic in Maharashtra. The event was inaugurated by Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray. [10] [11] 56 MOUs with investments worth 129,439 crore (US$16 billion) were signed. [12]

He was also the leader (pramukh) of Shiv Sena from 2013 to 2022, working President from 2003 to 2013 and the editor-in-chief of Saamana from 2006 to 2019.

Nagpur Metro is a rapid transit system for the city of Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. Phase I of the metro project cost was estimated to cost 8,650 crore but the final project cost incurred was 9,279 crore (US$1.2 billion). In February 2014, the Government of Maharashtra gave approval for the Metro project, while the Government of India's Ministry of Urban Development had given "In Principle" approval for the project. On 20 August 2014, Union Cabinet gave approval for the development of the project, and the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone on 21 August. Construction began on 31 May 2015, with trial run beginning on 30 September 2017.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Cyclone Nisarga</span> North Indian Ocean cyclone in 2020

Severe Cyclonic Storm Nisarga was the strongest tropical cyclone to strike the Indian state of Maharashtra in the month of June since 1891. It was also the first cyclone to impact Raigad & Mumbai since Phyan of 2009. The third depression and second named cyclone of the 2020 North Indian Ocean cyclone season, Nisarga originated as a depression in the Arabian Sea and moved generally northward. On 2 June, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) upgraded the system to a cyclonic storm, assigning the name Nisarga. On the next day, Nisarga further intensified to a severe cyclonic storm and turned to the northeast, ultimately making landfall approximately 95 km (60 mi) south of Mumbai. Nisarga rapidly weakened once inland and dissipated on 4 June.

The 2022 Maharashtra political crisis began on 21 June 2022 in the Indian state of Maharashtra when Eknath Shinde, along with several other MLAs of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition moved to Surat in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-governed Gujarat, throwing the coalition into a crisis.
