Magnitogorsk State Technical University is located in Magnitogorsk, Russia. Though it was established from branches of higher educational institutions in Ural in 1932, it was officially declared only in 1934, as Magnitogorsk Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. [2] [3] In 1951, it was named after a long-term director of Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, Grigory Ivanovich Nosov. It obtained its current name in 1998.
Magnitogorsk is an industrial city in Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia, on the eastern side of the extreme southern extent of the Ural Mountains by the Ural River. Its population is currently 410,594 (2021 Census).

This prominent industrial region consists of the following subdivisions : Bashkortostan (Ufa), Chelyabinsk Oblast (Chelyabinsk), Kurgan Oblast (Kurgan), Orenburg Oblast (Orenburg), Perm Krai (Perm), Sverdlovsk Oblast (Yekaterinburg) and Udmurt Republic (Izhevsk). It is mostly located in the Central, and partly in the Southern and Northern parts of the Urals, but also includes parts of the East European and West Siberian Plains. Its extent is different from that of the Ural Federal District; Bashkortostan, Orenburg Oblast, Perm Krai and Udmurtia are in the Volga Federal District while the other three are in the Ural Federal District.

Metallurg Magnitogorsk is a professional ice hockey team based in Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk Oblast, Russia. They are members of the Kharlamov Division of the Kontinental Hockey League. They also competed in the Champions Hockey League, losing the 2008–09 season championship round to Swiss club, the ZSC Lions.
Romazan Ice Sports Palace is an indoor sporting arena located in Magnitogorsk, Russia. The capacity of the arena is 3,700 and was built in 1992. It was the home arena of the Metallurg Magnitogorsk ice hockey team from its opening until it was replaced by Magnitogorsk Arena in late 2006.

Arena Metallurg is an indoor sporting arena located in Magnitogorsk, Russia. The capacity of the arena is 7,500 and was built in 2006. It is the home arena of the Metallurg Magnitogorsk ice hockey team. It replaced Romazan Ice Sports Palace in late 2006.

Andrey Dmitrievich Filatov was a Soviet metallurgical engineer, manager, and the eleventh director of the Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine (1968–1973). He was a Hero of Socialist Labour (1971) and a laureate of the State Prize of the USSR.
