Maharani Laxmi Bai Government College of Excellence, Gwalior or M.L.B. Government College of Excellence, Gwalior is a government college in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh which is affiliated with Jiwaji University. [1]

History

It was established in 1846 as Lashkar Madarsa, in 1887 name was changed into Victoria College and in 1957 it was renamed after Maharani Laxmi Bai. It was affiliated with University of Calcutta till 1887, from 1887 to 1927 it was affiliated with University of Allahabad, from 1927 to 1957 it was affiliated with Agra University, from 1957 to 1964 it was affiliated with Vikram University and it got its present affiliation with Jiwaji University in 1964. Lakshmibai Newalkar, the Rani of Jhansi or Jhansi ki Rani widely known as Rani Lakshmibai, was the Maharani consort of the princely state of Jhansi in the Maratha Empire from 1843 to 1853 by marriage to Maharaja Gangadhar Rao Newalkar. Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College or MLBMC or MLB Medical College is a state-run medical college located in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, India, and one of the largest government-run hospitals in the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. The college is affiliated to Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University. It is named after Maharani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi. It provides medical care to people of Bundelkhand region. The college building spread over a walled area of 380 acres and this is one of the biggest medical college campus in the country.

Gajra Raja Medical College is the first medical college in Madhya Pradesh, India established in 1946. It was inaugurated on 1 August 1946 by Jiwaji Rao Scindia. The college building was inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 5 December 1948. It has 200 undergraduate seats for MBBS course, 68 seats for post graduation courses and 36 seats for diploma courses.
