Maharishi Institute of Management (MIM) is a group of private institutes founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi [3] with locations in Maharishi Nagar(NOIDA), [4] Bhopal, Indore, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai, India. [5] The Institute is accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and offers Graduate and Post Graduate courses in Management and Computer Science. [6] Maharishi Institute of Management [7] is a part of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's global education movement. MIM is established under the auspices of Maharishi Shiksha Sansthan (MSS).

Accreditation

The Institute was established under the auspices of Maharishi Shiksha Sansthan, a Registered Society under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. [6] The Institute is accredited by different state universities in their respective locations and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to offer Graduate and Post Graduate courses in Management and Computer Science. [8] The MIM Indore campus offers BBA, BCA, MBA and MCA in affiliation to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya Jabalpur. The Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management [9] programme offered at MIM Maharishi Nagar Noida campus is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. BBA, BCA, MBA and MCA offered at MIM Bhopal campus are affiliated to Barkatullah University Bhopal and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. [10] BBA, BCA and B.Com courses offered at MIM Bengaluru [11] are affiliated to Bangalore University and approved by the AICTE. BBA and MBA courses offered at MIM Chennai [12] are affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University. [8]

Mission

The mission of Maharishi Institute of Management is to create problem-free management in India through management based on Natural Law, so that India can successfully meet the challenges of the globalized economy, maintain cultural integrity, and rise to leadership in the family of nations. The management training at MIM accomplishes these goals by providing not only "career-oriented" education, but also "life-oriented" education through a Consciousness-Based Education system. [6]

Student life

MIM incorporates the principles and programmes of Maharishi's Consciousness-Based Education, including the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programme. [13] Students also get in-depth exposure to Maharishi's Vedic Management. [14] The basis of this approach is the use of Maharishi's Vedic Science and Technology to develop the consciousness of every student. [15] MIM courses aim to be "job-oriented", "life-oriented" and "life-supporting".

The Institute has established a national coordinating office in New Delhi, [16] [17] and six campuses at: Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Hyderabad, Indore, Noida. [5]

The institute has been widely criticized for false advertisements and fraudulent practices. After several controversies, the school's Honorary Dean Arindam Chaudhuri decided to shut down all campuses across India, except the one in Delhi. Founded in 1973, the institute used to offer undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in national economic planning and entrepreneurship, and international and fellowship programmes. Its executive education programmes include non-credit courses and visits to foreign business schools. IIPM is not accredited by UGC or All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and is not affiliated with the public Indian Institutes of Management.

Tony Nader is a Lebanese neuro-scientist, researcher, university president, author and leader of the Transcendental Meditation movement. He has a medical degree in internal medicine, received his Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and worked as a clinical and research fellow at a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School.

Maharishi University of Management and Technology is a private university was established vide Chhattisgarh Private Universities (Amendment) Act 2018 and received the assent of Hon’ble Governor of C.G. on 13th April 2018 followed by publication of Chhattisgarh Gazette (Extraordinary) on 17th April 2018. Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus Jalandhar was established in 1997 under the aegis of the Apeejay Education Society, founded by Dr.Stya Paul. It was granted the status of a technical campus in 2012 by the All India Council of Technical Education.

Transcendental Meditation in education is the application of the Transcendental Meditation technique in an educational setting or institution. These educational programs and institutions have been founded in the US, United Kingdom, Australia, India, Africa and Japan. The Transcendental Meditation technique became popular with students in the 1960s and by the early 1970s centers for the Students International Meditation Society were established at a thousand campuses in the US with similar growth occurring in Germany, Canada and Britain. The Maharishi International University was established in 1973 in the US and began offering accredited, degree programs. In 1977 courses in Transcendental Meditation and the Science of Creative Intelligence (SCI) were legally prohibited from New Jersey (USA) public high schools on religious grounds by virtue of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. This "dismantled" the TM program's use of government funding in U.S. public schools "but did not constitute a negative evaluation of the program itself". Since 1979, schools that incorporate the Transcendental Meditation technique using private, non-governmental funding have been reported in the US, South America, Southeast Asia, Northern Ireland, South Africa and Israel.

Tula's Institute is a private and self-financing engineering and management college set up by the Rishabh Educational Trust in 2006. It is at Dehradun in Uttarakhand. It is affiliated to the Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun and approved by the AICTE and MHRD and Uttarakhand Board of Technical Education. It is an ISO 9001:2008 certified institute.

Acropolis Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (AITR) is a private college located in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. It was established in 2005. The college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya and it is part of Acropolis Group.

Kulwant Singh (general)

Major General Kulwant Singh, UYSM is a former General Officer of the Indian Army. He last served as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) the 27 Mountain Division. He had earlier served as the Deputy GOC 54th Infantry Division that was a part the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) in Sri Lanka, and as Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor of the Infantry School at Mhow.
