Maia Sharp is an American singer and songwriter. In addition to her solo career, she has written songs for and collaborated with several country and pop musicians including Cher, Trisha Yearwood, Terri Clark, Bonnie Raitt, Edwin McCain, and Art Garfunkel.
Sharp was born in the Central Valley in California, the only child of country songwriter Randy Sharp and anthropology professor Sharon Bays. [1] When she was four, the family moved to Los Angeles, and at the age of five she recorded her first song. [1] By the age of twelve she played piano, saxophone, oboe, and guitar, and by her twenties she was performing her jazz/folk songs in L.A. acoustic venues. [2] Musically, she was inspired by Bonnie Raitt, Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne and Sting. [1] [2] Sharp studied music theory at California State University, Northridge and began to focus on song-writing. [1] She came out as a lesbian at the age of 23. [1]
Sharp played her first gig in 1993. [1] Two years later, she met music executive Miles Copeland and recorded her debut album, Hardly Glamour (1997), on his record label Ark 21. [1] Her next album Tinderbox failed to be released when Ark 21 was incorporated into PolyGram. [3] Three of its songs featured on Sharp's 2002 album Maia Sharp on Concord. [3] [4] Her 2005 album Fine Upstanding Citizen was released by Koch. 2009's Echo, released by Crooked Crown, is, according to Sharp, her most personal album to date. [5]
During her career, Sharp has collaborated with other musicians including Lisa Loeb, Carole King, Jules Shear and Jonatha Brooke. As a songwriter, her songs have been recorded by musicians including Cher, Kim Richey, Amanda Marshall, Paul Carrack, Edwin McCain, The Dixie Chicks, Trisha Yearwood and Kathy Mattea. [1] [2] She collaborated with Art Garfunkel and Buddy Mondlock on the 2002 album Everything Waits to be Noticed , Garfunkel's debut as a songwriter. [6]
Sharp contributed the track "Castaway" to the album Music from the Aisle of Lesbos , an album featuring various lesbian artists from different genres. [7] In 2009 Sharp opened for Bonnie Raitt on several dates. She started a national concert tour in October 2009. [8]
Bonnie Lynn Raitt is an American blues singer and guitarist. In 1971, Raitt released her self-titled debut album. Following this, she released a series of critically acclaimed roots-influenced albums that incorporated elements of blues, rock, folk, and country. She was also a frequent session player and collaborator with other artists, including Warren Zevon, Little Feat, Jackson Browne, the Pointer Sisters, John Prine and Leon Russell.
Patricia Lynn Yearwood is an American country singer. She rose to fame with her 1991 debut single "She's in Love with the Boy," which became a number one hit on the Billboard country singles chart. Cyndi Thomson is an American country music artist. Thomson wrote songs with songwriter Tommy Lee James and in 2000, she signed with Capitol Records Nashville as a recording artist. She released her first album, My World, in 2001 and her debut single, "What I Really Meant to Say", became a number one hit on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts. She later abandoned her recording career in 2002, but resumed recording in 2006.

The Song Remembers When is the third studio album by American country music artist Trisha Yearwood. The album was released October 26, 1993, on MCA Nashville Records and was produced by Garth Fundis. It was Yearwood's third collaboration with Fundis, who also produced her 1992 album, Hearts in Armor which received wide critical acclaim, as well as her platinum-selling eponymous debut. The title track was the album's lead single, becoming a major hit, peaking at #2 on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in 1993.

It is his first release on Blue Note Records after years of recording for Columbia Records. The album failed to chart.
