Maiyas Beverages and Foods (or Maiyas) is an Indian packaged food company [1] operating chiefly in Bangalore. [2] [3] [4] [5]

History

The company was started by Sadananda Maiya in 2012. [1] [6] Sadananda Maiya's father Parampalli Yagnanarayana Maiya started Mavalli Tiffin Room (MTR) in 1924. Sadananda Maiya started MTR Foods in 1976, the packaged foods division of MTR, his second entrepreneurial venture. [1]

Peepul Capital and Ascent Capital held 30 percent stake each in the company, while the Maiya family held the remaining 40. [2] In 2019, the company filed for bankruptcy after defaulting on payments and was taken over by Akashika Foods, a company promoted by Sadananda Maiya. [7] [8]

Restaurant

Maiyas operates a restaurant in Jayanagar, Bangalore. Some of the available dishes are Masala Dosa, Benne Dosa, Kesari bat, Idli, Vada, Bisi Bele Bath, Mosaru Vade, and Sambar Vada. [9]

The Mavalli Tiffin Rooms is the brand name of a food-related enterprise in India. Having its origin as a humble mess located on Lalbagh Road in Bangalore, it has ten other branches in Bangalore, as well as one in each of Udupi, Mysore, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, London and Dubai. MTR created the South Indian breakfast item, Rava Idli. While the packaged foods division was acquired by Orkla of Norway, the MTR chain of restaurants continues to be run by the original family that started it.

The Blue Line or ORR-Airport Metro Line is part of the Namma Metro rail network for the city of Bangalore, Karnataka, India. It consists of two sections - Phase-2A and Phase-2B. Construction of Phase-2A began in August-2021. Construction of Phase-2B is expected to begin in February-2022. The 58.19 km line connects Central Silk Board with the Kempegowda International Airport. The Line is mostly elevated but also has an at-grade (surface) section close to the Airport and 2 short underground sections where it passes the Jakkur Aerodrome and Yelahanka AFB. There are 30 stations on the line of which the two station/s at the Airport may be at surface level or underground. Blue Line will have interchanges with the Yellow Line at Central Silk Board, Purple Line at KR Pura, Pink Line at Nagawara and with the future /proposed Orange Line at Hebbal.
