Värttinä Finnish folk music band

Värttinä is a Finnish folk music band that started as a project by Sari and Mari Kaasinen in 1983 in the village of Rääkkylä, in Karelia, the southeastern region of Finland. Many transformations have taken place in the band since then. Värttinä shot into fame with the release of their 1991 album Oi Dai. As of 2009, the band consists of three lead female vocalists supported by three acoustic musicians. The vocalists sing in the Karelian dialect of the Finnish language.

YUP is a Finnish rock-music group. The band arose amongst three students of the Savonlinna senior high of arts in 1987 and played some rather primitive, progressive hard-core punk with English lyrics. Originally the group consisted of Jarkko Martikainen (guitar), Valtteri Tynkkynen and Jussi Hyyrynen (drums).

Vennaskond is an Estonian punk rock band founded in 1984. The band has toured in Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Romania, Sweden, Germany, France, India, Poland and the United States. To show respect to the band, Metallica covered Vennaskond's hit song Insener Garini hüperboloid in Estonia in front of a 60 000 strong crowd during their gig in Tartu, Estonia on 18 July 2019. The band is explicitly anarchist, with many lyrics referring to historical anarchists. The frontman of the band, Tõnu Trubetsky, has been called "Estonia's leading anarchist".

Lapinlahden Linnut Finnish band and comedy group

Lapinlahden Linnut was a Finnish band and comedy group, which played humorous rock/pop music. The band started as buskers. In the beginning, the band used some original instruments such as a ring binder, and they still use an empty beer crate in their music. Lapinlahden Linnut have made 7 TV-series, third of them, Maailman kahdeksan ihmettä, participating in the Montreaux Rose_d'Or festival, under the name: "Rampton Birds Show: Eight Wonders of the World". In 2006 band returned to its old, 1990–91 lineup. The band held its farewell tour in 2013.

Peter von Bagh Finnish film historian

Kari Peter Conrad von Bagh was a Finnish film historian and director. Von Bagh worked as the head of the Finnish Film Archive. He was the editor-in-chief of Filmihullu magazine and co-founder and director of the Midnight Sun Film Festival. Since 2001, he had been the artistic director of the film festival Il Cinema Ritrovato in Bologna. Von Bagh was a member of the jury in the competition category of 2004 Cannes Film Festival.

Terminaator Estonian musical group

Terminaator is an Estonian rock group formed in 1987 by Arno Veimer and Jaagup Kreem in Tallinn 10. High School. Kreem was in the 7th grade then. The first public performance was in Tallinn 47. High School in the schoolbands' festival. The first time in the studio was in 1989. First songs "Charleen" and "Meeletu maailm" were recorded in 1991. They found wider fame in 1992, when they won the festival of young bands Rock In. They have also performed in Latvia, Lithuania and Finland, although they have not had much success outside of Estonia. On the Estonian television show "7 vaprat", Terminaator have appeared playing their songs "Ainult sina võid mu maailma muuta", "Juulikuu lumi", "See ei ole saladus", and "Portselanist tüdruk".

Viikate Finnish rock band

Viikate is a Finnish rock band from Kouvola, formed in 1996. The band is known for its melancholic lyrics, drawing inspiration from Finnish romance movies of the 1950s and Finnish singers of the era, including Reino Helismaa. Their style has been variously described as "Helismaa-metal," "wire metal," and "death schlagers." The band began with Kaarle and Simeoni Viikate who remained the only members of the band until 2001, when Arvo and Ervo joined. The band's most well-known hits are Pohjoista viljaa, Ei enkeleitä and Viina, Terva & Hauta.

Horkýže Slíže Slovak rock band

Horkýže Slíže is a Slovak rock band formed in 1992 in Nitra. Horkýže Slíže's music contains elements of punk, rock, pop and metal. Their lyrics are known for their humorous content and they sometimes produce parodies of other styles of music, such as 'R'n'B Soul' which is a very clear take-off of contemporary R&B styles. Their other hits include "Maštaľ", "Vlak", "A Ja Sprostá" and many others.

Ralf-Henrik ”Dave” Lindholm is a Finnish guitarist and singer-songwriter who has made a career under his own name and also participated in some noteworthy groups. He has written songs and recorded in both Finnish and English.

Musta Paraati are a Finnish post-punk/gothic rock band, comparable to Killing Joke and Theatre of Hate. The original band was active for only a few years in the early 1980s, but their lineup changed many times before they dissolved circa 1985. The band made one comeback gig in 1987. Original vocalist Jore Vastelin died of a cardiac arrest in 1993 in the age of 30. The early 2000s post-punk revival led to renewed appreciation for the band, resulting in a CD release of their 1983 debut album Peilitalossa with several singles appended as bonus tracks.

Kolmas Nainen Finnish rock band

Kolmas Nainen is a successful Finnish rock band established in 1982 in Alavus was fronted by Pauli Hanhiniemi and came to fame after taking part in the 1984 Rockin SM-kisat, a rock music competition. The band survived for a decade releasing 7 studio albums in addition to a number of live albums, DVDs and compilations. The band is enjoying a comeback since 2009 with a string of new studio and compilation releases.

Riistetyt are a Finnish hardcore punk band from Tampere. After Rattus and Kaaos, Riistetyt were one of the first groups in Finland to play hardcore punk. Originally formed as Cadgers, the band was created in 1981 and recorded one split 7-inch with Kaaos before changing their name. They played until 1985, then reunited in 1991 and have been active ever since.
