Malcolm Robert Sygrove (born 17 February 1966) is an English former first-class cricketer.
Sygrove was born in February 1966 at Lutterworth,Leicestershire. He later studied at St John's College,Oxford where he played first-class cricket for Oxford University. [1] He made his debut against Lancashire at Oxford in 1986. He played first-class cricket for Oxford until 1988,making eight appearances. [2] Playing as a right-arm medium pace bowler,he took 20 wickets in his eight matches,at an average of 46.65 and best figures of 3 for 91. [3]
Malcolm Denzil Marshall was a Barbadian cricketer. Primarily a fast bowler,Marshall is widely regarded as one of the greatest and one of the most accomplished fast bowlers of the modern era in Test cricket. He is often acknowledged as the greatest West Indian fast bowler of all time,and certainly one of the most complete fast bowlers the cricketing world ever saw. His Test bowling average of 20.94 is the best of anyone who has taken 200 or more wickets. He achieved his bowling success despite being,by the standards of other fast bowlers of his time,a short man –he stood at 180 cm,while most of the great quicks have been well above 183 cm and many great West Indian fast bowlers,such as Joel Garner,Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh,were 197 cm or above. He generated fearsome pace from his bowling action,with a dangerous bouncer. He also statistically went on to become the most successful test match bowler of the 1980s with 235 scalps with an average of 18.47 within a time period of just five years.
Oxford University Cricket Club (OUCC),which represents the University of Oxford,has always held first-class status since 1827 when it made its debut in the inaugural University Match between OUCC and Cambridge University Cricket Club (CUCC). It was classified as a List A team in 1973 only. Home fixtures are played at the University Parks slightly northeast of Oxford city centre.

Christ Church Ground is a cricket ground in Oxford,England. The ground is owned by Christ Church,a constituent college of the University of Oxford. Owing to the University Parks being on public land where an admission charge could not be levied,the privately owned Christ Church Ground was the preferred venue in Oxford for matches where a gated admission was to be levied on spectators,typically in matches between Oxford University and a touring international team. The ground operated as a first-class cricket venue from 1878 to 1961,hosting 37 first-class matches. After 1961,the University Parks became the preferred venue for all first-class matches in Oxford,but it remained in use in minor counties cricket by Oxfordshire until the start of the 21st century. Today the ground is used by the Christ Church Cricket Club.

Malcolm Robert Jardine was an English first-class cricketer who played 46 matches,mainly for Oxford University. Although his first-class record was not impressive,he scored 140 in the University Match of 1892 using an unorthodox batting method. He played a few matches for Middlesex but later went to work in India,in effect ending his English first-class career. He played first-class cricket in India for the Europeans and after a successful legal career,returned to England. His son Douglas went on to play cricket for Oxford,Surrey and England,captaining the latter two and being associated with the use of Bodyline bowling.
