Malin Eva Helena Allberg (born 1 March 1972) is a Swedish former footballer who played as a forward for the Sweden women's national football team.

Club career

Allberg started playing youth football with local club Vällingby AIK. [1] In 1988, she made her debut in senior football for IF Brommapojkarna in Division 2, Sweden's third tier at the time, scoring 14 goals in 18 games. [2] She missed the whole 1989 season due to an injury. [3] In 1990, Allberg represented AIK in Division 1 (Swedish women's football), the second division. [4]

In 1991, she signed with Djurgårdens IF in Damallsvenskan. [4] The following season, in 1992, she scored five goals in 19 games, although Djurgården finished 11th in the table and suffered a relegation from the top tier. [5]

In 1993, Allberg joined Hammarby IF, where she became a key player for four seasons scoring 37 goals in 65 league appearances. Led by player-coach Pia Sundhage in 1994, Hammarby finished as runner-up in Damallsvenskan, but won Svenska Cupen through a 2–1 win against Gideonsbergs IF in the final. In 1995, Hammarby defended its cup title through a 1–0 final win against Älvsjö AIK. [6]

In 1997, Allberg joined Älvsjö AIK in Damallsvenskan, where she played until 2000 when she was forced to retire due to a knee injury. [1] [3] During her stint at the club, she won three consecutive Swedish championship titles in 1997, 1998 and 1998. [7] She also won Svenska Cupen with Älvsjö in 1999, through a 2–1 win in extra time against Djurgården in the final. [6]

International career

From her debut in 1995, Allberg won 20 caps for Sweden, scoring three goals. [8] She was part of the squad that reached the semifinal in the UEFA Women's Euro 1997, losing 0–1 to Germany. [9] In 1998, Allberg was given the honorary award Stora Tjejers Märke, the "Big Girls' Badge", by the Swedish Football Association. [10]

Allsvenskan 2006, part of the 2006 Swedish football season, was the 82nd Allsvenskan season played. The first match was played 1 April 2006 and the last match was played 5 November 2006. IF Elfsborg won the league ahead of runners-up AIK, while BK Häcken, Östers IF and Örgryte IS were relegated.

Allsvenskan 2009, part of the 2009 Swedish football season, was the 85th Allsvenskan season played. AIK clinched their first Swedish title since 1998.

The 2014 season was the 117th season of competitive football in Sweden. The competitive started with the group stage of Svenska Cupen on 1 March. League competition started late March and early April with Allsvenskan on 30 March, Superettan on 6 April, Damallsvenskan on 13 April and Division 1 on 20 April. Svenska Cupen ended with the final on 18 May. Damallsvenskan ended on 19 October, Allsvenskan and Division 1 ended on 1 November, Superettan one day later on 2 November and lower men's leagues on the weekend before. Qualification play-offs were held after the end of league play with the Allsvenskan and Superettan play-offs being held on 6 and 9 November. Svenska Supercupen was held on 9 November and was contested by the winner of Allsvenskan and Svenska Cupen. Sweden participated in qualifying for the UEFA Euro 2016.

In the 2014 season, Djurgårdens IF competed in the Allsvenskan and Svenska Cupen. Per Olsson took over from Per-Mathias Høgmo as manager, after the Norwegian left the club to coach the Norway national football team. Djurgården finished 7th in Allsvenskan and in the groups stage of Svenska Cupen
