Mallam Gana Bukar Kareto is a Nigerian politician. He is currently a member representing Kukawa/Mobbar/Abadam/Guzamalai Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. [1] [2] [3]

Early life and education

Mallam Gana was born on 31 December 1969 and hails from Borno State. He completed his secondary education at Immaculate Heart Secondary School, Maiduguri. He obtained an Advanced Diploma in 2000 from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. He bagged a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Maiduguri, Borno state. [1] [2]

Political career

Prior to his emergence as a third term member of the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC), he served as Kareto ward Councillor, Caretaker Chairman, Mobbar Local Government Council in 2004, and Borno State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2011. [1] [2]

The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) is a Federal higher institution located in Maiduguri, the capital city of Borno State in Northeast Nigeria. The university was created by the federal government of Nigeria in 1975, with the intention of its becoming one of the country's principal higher-education institutions. It enrolls about 25,000 students in its combined programs, which include a college of medicine and faculties of agriculture, arts, environmental science, Allied health science, Basic medical science, dentistry, education, engineering, law, management science, pharmacy, science, social science, and veterinary medicine. With the encouragement of the federal government, the university has recently been increasing its research efforts, particularly in the fields of agriculture, medicine and conflict resolution, and expanding the university press. The university is the major higher institution of learning in the north-eastern part of the country.

Mohammed Abba Gana served as a Special Adviser on Civil Society to the Nigerian Vice President Atiku Abubakar until 22 June 2006, when he was sacked by President Olusegun Obasanjo. He had previously served as a Federal Capital Territory Minister from 8 February 2001 to 17 July 2003.

Alhaji Mohammed Goni was a civil servant who was Governor of Borno State, Nigeria (1979–1983) in the Nigerian Second Republic.

Shettima Mustafa was a Nigerian academic and politician. After an early career in medicine, local administration, and media, Mustafa studied agriculture at university, eventually earning a Doctor of Philosophy degree. He became a commissioner in Borno State and joined the Nigerian People's Party, becoming their vice-presidential candidate in 1983. He was jailed after the military coup of December 1983 led by Muhammadu Buhari. After his release in 1985 he taught agriculture at the University of Maiduguri and became head of the Jos region of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. Mustafa served as Minister of Agriculture from 1990 to 1992, and in 2007 was appointed Minister of Defence in the cabinet of President Umaru Yar'Adua. In 2008 he became Minister of the Interior but left office with the 2010 dissolution of the cabinet.

The 2023 Borno State gubernatorial election took place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Borno State, concurrent with elections to the Borno State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. Abdulkadir Rahis is a Nigerian politician currently serving as a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives representing Maiduguri (Metropolitan) Federal Constituency in the 10th National Assembly. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) political party and has served three terms in the House of Representatives.
