Malojiraje Chhatrapati (also known as Chhatrapati Malojiraje Shahu [1] ) is an Indian politician and a former member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He is the secretary of All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society.
Malojiraje Chhatrapati belongs to the Kolhapur royal family, [2] and is a descendant of the Shahu of Kolhapur. [3] In 2004,he entered the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly with a ticket from Indian National Congress,defeating the Shiv Sena. He participated in the 2009 elections and lost to Rajesh Vinayakrao Kshirsagar which made him to ignore politics. [4] The Congress offered him ticket to contest the Maharashtra assembly elections again in 2014,however,he was seen writing a letter to Manikrao Thakre,the president of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee stating that he has been very less active in politics. [2] Earlier,he had led the party at a municipal corporation level. [4]
In January 2021,Chhatrapati re-entered the politics again and participated in the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation elections. He is the secretary of Pune based All India Chhatrapati Shivaji Memorial Society. [4]
On 2 September 2022,Chhatrapati was elected as a member of the executive committee of the All India Football Federation. [5]

Shahu Bhonsle I was the fifth Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire founded by his grandfather,Shivaji I. He was born into the Bhonsle family,and was the son of Sambhaji I and Yesubai. At a young age,he was taken into custody at the Siege of Raigad by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb,and held captive by the Mughals. He was released from captivity after the death of Aurangzeb in the hope of engineering an internecine struggle among the Maratha factions of Tarabai and Shahu Raja. Raja Shahu emerged victorious in the bloody Battle of Khed and was crowned the Chhatrapati.
Shahu of the Bhonsle dynasty of Marathas was a Raja and the first Maharaja (1900–1922) of the Indian princely state of Kolhapur. Rajarshi Shahu was considered a true democrat and social reformer. Shahu Maharaj was an able ruler who was associated with many progressive policies during his rule. From his coronation in 1894 till his demise in 1922,he worked for the cause of the lower caste subjects in his state. Primary education to all regardless of caste and creed was one of his most significant priorities.
Tarabai Bhosale was the regent of the Maratha Empire of India from 1700 until 1708. She was the empress of Rajaram Bhonsale,and daughter-in-law of the empire's founder Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. She is acclaimed for her role in keeping alive the resistance against Mughal occupation of Maratha territories after the death of her husband,and acting as the regent during the minority of her son,Shivaji II.

Keshavrao Marutrao Jedhe (Deshmukh) (21 April 1896 –12 November 1959) was an Indian independence activist and politician from Pune. He served as a leading figure in the Indian National Congress,and in the Samyukta Maharashtra movement during independence. The famous Swargate chowk in Pune is named after him.
Kolhapur State or Kolhapur Kingdom (1710–1949) was a Maratha princely State of India,under the Deccan Division of the Bombay Presidency,and later the Deccan States Agency. It was considered the most important of the Maratha principalities with the others being Baroda State,Gwalior State and Indore State.
