Mamadou Bah (born 9 January 1999) is a Guinean swimmer. [1] He competed in the men's 50 metre freestyle at the 2020 Summer Olympics. [2]
Bruno Giuseppe Fratus is a Brazilian competitive swimmer. He won a bronze medal in the 50-metre freestyle at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. In July 2021, Fratus became the first swimmer in history to swim the long course 50 metre freestyle race in less than 22 seconds 90 times. He surpassed this mark by swimming his 100th sub-22 second 50 metre freestyle at the 19th World Aquatics Championships in June 2022.
Mamadou Ouedraogo is a Burkinabé former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Ouedraogo was elected by the Burkinabé National Olympic and Sports Committee to carry the nation's flag in the opening ceremony. He qualified for the men's 50 m freestyle, as a 37-year-old, by receiving a Universality place from FINA in an entry time of 29.08. He challenged seven other swimmers in heat two, including 15-year-old Malique Williams of Antigua and Barbuda. Ouedraogo raced to sixth place in 30.36, more than two seconds off his entry time. Ouedraogo failed to advance into the semifinals, as he placed eighty-first overall out of 86 swimmers in the preliminaries.
Guinea competed at the 2019 African Games held from 19 to 31 August 2019 in Rabat, Morocco. In total, two bronze medals were won and the country finished in 38th place in the medal table, shared with Benin and Togo.
Guinea competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020, the Games were postponed to 23 July to 8 August 2021, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the nation's twelfth appearance at the Summer Olympics since its debut in 1968. Guinea failed to register any athletes at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich and eventually joined the rest of the African nations to boycott the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. On 22 July, the eve of the opening ceremony, Guinea announced it would withdraw from the Games due to COVID-19 concerns, but later reversed its decision.
