Clock DVA are a musical group from Sheffield, England, whose style has touched on industrial, post-punk, and EBM. They formed in 1978 by Adi Newton and Steven "Judd" Turner. Along with contemporaries Heaven 17, Clock DVA's name was inspired by the Russian-influenced Nadsat language of Anthony Burgess's novel A Clockwork Orange. Dva is Russian for "two".
"Some Might Say" is a song by the English rock band Oasis. It was released as the first single on 24 April 1995 by Creation from their second studio album, (What's the Story) Morning Glory? (1995). The song was written by the band's lead guitarist Noel Gallagher. "Some Might Say" provided Oasis with their first number one on the UK Singles Chart and reached the top 10 in Finland, Iceland, Ireland and Sweden. The song is also the last to feature all five original members, as the drummer Tony McCarroll was fired shortly after the song's release.
"I Touch Myself" is a song recorded by Australian rock band Divinyls. It was written by the songwriting team of Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg along with Christine Amphlett and Mark McEntee of the Divinyls. It was released in November 1990 by Virgin as the lead single from the band's fourth album, Divinyls (1991), and deals with the subjects of eroticism and female masturbation. The single achieved success, reaching No. 1 in Australia and No. 4 on the US Billboard Hot 100. In January 2018, Australian network Triple M ranked the song at No. 60 in its list of the "most Australian" songs of all time. In 2023, Billboard magazine ranked it among the "500 Best Pop Songs of All Time".
"Hard to Beat" is the third single from English indie rock group Hard-Fi, from their album Stars of CCTV. Despite being released as the third single, it was Hard-Fi's first of two top-10 singles, reaching number nine in the United Kingdom after being released on 20 June 2005. In the United States, the song was released as the second single from Stars of CCTV on 18 April 2006, following "Cash Machine". It gained the band some prominence in the US by entering the US Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart at number 39 a month after release. It later peaked at number 34.
"When You Tell Me That You Love Me" is a song by American singer Diana Ross, released on August 20, 1991 as the lead single from her nineteenth studio album, The Force Behind the Power (1991). The song was released on the Motown label in the United States and by EMI Records in the United Kingdom. It was written by Albert Hammond and John Bettis, and produced by Peter Asher. A sentimental ballad, it became the album's biggest hit, peaking at number 37 on the US Billboard R&B singles chart and number two on the UK Singles Chart. Ross considers it one of her signature songs and it was subsequently covered by various artists. The UK release of "When You Tell Me That You Love Me" included her 1985 hit "Chain Reaction".
Go Bo Diddley is the second album by American rock and roll musician Bo Diddley, released in July 1959. The album was Bo's first studio album that included some material that hadn't been prereleased on singles, and his first LP for Checker Records. In 2003, Rolling Stone ranked it number 214 on its The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, and 216 in a 2012 revised list.
"Sound" is a song written by Jim Glennie, Larry Gott, and Tim Booth, recorded by Manchester band James for their fourth studio album, Seven (1992). Clocking in at over six and a half minutes on the album, the song was shortened considerably for the single version. The CD release featured both the album and the single version, along with a dub remix of "Come Home" and an original song called "All My Sons".
Thirst is the second studio album by English post-punk band Clock DVA. It was released on 24 January 1981, through record label Fetish. Soon after the album's release, this incarnation of the band would split up, with several members going on to form The Box with singer Peter Hope.
White Souls in Black Suits is the debut studio album of Clock DVA, released in December 1980 by Industrial Records. It was originally issued only as a cassette, though it was reissued on vinyl and CD.
Advantage is the third studio album and second LP by Clock DVA, released in 1983 by Polydor Records. Singles from it were "Breakdown" and "Resistance". A video was filmed for the song "Resistance", directed by Peter Care.
Buried Dreams is the fourth studio album by Clock DVA, released in 1989 through Wax Trax! Records. The tracks feature audio samples from several films. The album peaked at No. 61 on the CMJ Radio Top 150.
Transitional Voices is a live album by Clock DVA, released in 1990 by Interfisch Records.
Digital Soundtracks is the sixth studio album by Clock DVA, released on 11 December 1992 by Contempo Records. "E-Wave" is dedicated to Klaus Kinski.
Sign is the seventh studio album by Clock DVA, released on 3 August 1993 by Contempo Records.
"Rocket Man" is a song written by English musician Elton John and songwriter Bernie Taupin and performed by John. It was originally released on 17 April 1972 in the US, as the lead single to John's album Honky Château. The song first charted in the UK on 22 April, rising to No. 2 in the UK Singles Chart and No. 6 in the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming a major hit single for John.
"4 Hours" is a song by the English post-punk band Clock DVA. It is the only single released in support of their second album Thirst.
Passions Still Aflame is an EP by Clock DVA, released on 26 May 1982 by Polydor Records.
"Breakdown" is a song by the English post-punk band Clock DVA. It was the second single released in support of their third album Advantage.
D!v!s!on #9 was the name of an electronic music project founded by composer Mick Hale and based in New Brunswick. Hale debuted with the studio album The True Creator in 1996 followed with Dub N Bass: Omen II in 1997.
