The North Central Railway is one of the 19 railway zones in India. The largest railway station in NCR is Kanpur Central. It is headquartered at Prayagraj and comprises three divisions: Prayagraj, Jhansi, and Agra of the erstwhile Northern Railway, Jhansi division of the erstwhile Central Railway, and new Agra division.
Kaushambi district is a district in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. Manjhanpur is the district headquarters. The district was carved from Prayagraj district on 4 April 1997. Manauri Bajar connects Prayagraj and Kaushambi districts by railway over a bridge on SH-95. Manjhanpur is south-west of Prayagraj on the north bank of the Yamuna river, about 55 kilometres (34 mi) from the city. It is surrounded by Chitrakoot district on the south, Pratapgarh district on the north, Prayagraj district on the east and Fatehpur district on the west. Kaushambi is part of Prayagraj division. The nearest railway station, in Bharwari, connects with Delhi, Prayagraj, Kolkata, Gaya and Kanpur.

These neighborhoods reflect British architecture like the All Saints Cathedral, Alfred Park and Allahabad High Court. Newer residential areas include neighborhoods like Kareli and suburbs like Naini Jhunsi and Manauri bajar.

Jhansi Junction railway station (JHS), officially Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi Railway Station (VGLJ), is a major railway junction in the city of Jhansi in Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the busiest and largest railway stations in India. The Howrah–Prayagraj–Mumbai line, is a railway line connecting Kolkata and Mumbai via Prayagraj. The 2,160-kilometre long (1,340 mi) railway line was opened to traffic in 1870. This railway line was 2,146-kilometre long (1,333 mi) until 2004. In 2004 the construction of Indira Sagar Dam submerged the old alignment near Khandwa & a new alignment of 14-kilometre long (8.7 mi) was relaid.

Deen Dayal Upadhyay (CNB-DDU) section, is a railway line connecting Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction (DDU) and Kanpur Central (CNB) stations. This 347 km (216 mi) track is part of the Howrah–Delhi main line and Howrah–Gaya–Delhi line. The main line is under the jurisdiction of North Central Railway. Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction is under the jurisdiction of East Central Railway. Some branch lines are under the jurisdiction of the North Eastern Railway and Northern Railway.

It is the headquarters of the North Central Railway zone. It is located in Prayagraj in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It serves Prayagraj and the surrounding areas.
The Prayagraj–Jabalpur section is a railway line connecting Prayagraj and Jabalpur. This 366 km (227 mi) track is part of the Howrah–Prayagraj–Mumbai line. The main line is under the jurisdiction of North Central Railway and West Central Railway.
The 12275 / 12276 Prayagraj Junction railway station - New Delhi Humsafar Express is a Superfast Express train of the Humsafar Express category belonging to Indian Railways - North Central Railway zone that runs between Prayagraj Junction railway station and New Delhi in India. It is the seventh-fastest-running train in India. Earlier it used to run as 12275/76 Allahabad - New Delhi Duronto Express of Duronto Express category from 9 February 2010 to 14 September 2019 before being converted to Humsafar Express.
Prayagraj Chheoki railway station, formerly Allahabad Chheoki railway station, is one of the major railways stations located in Prayagraj district. Chheoki is at a distance of 10 km from Prayagraj Junction on the Howrah–Delhi main line. Trains that bypass Prayagraj Junction and which come from Jabalpur and go towards Mughalsarai usually stop at Chheoki. To reduce the load on the main junction, trains were shifted to Chheoki. Chheoki has three platforms that are high-level platforms and one UTS.

Prayag Junction railway station is an important railway station in Prayagraj district, Uttar Pradesh. It serves Prayag town in Prayagraj. It consists of three platforms. The NR is developing the neighbouring Prayagraj sangam station as a coaching terminal. It is designed by architect M K Singh in the year 2018. There will be five new platforms, two washing lines, and a new station building with basement.
Subedarganj railway station is an important railway station in Prayagraj district, Uttar Pradesh. Its code is SFG. It serves Prayagraj city. Railways has sanctioned a budget of ₹26 crore as part of its plan to develop the Subedarganj station, situated close to the North Central Railway headquarters in Prayagraj, as a full-fledged terminal, Minister of State, Manoj Sinha said. A new FOB will be completed by November. Prayagraj's neighbouring Subedarganj is being developed as terminal station with a provision of a new platform, new FOB, and extension of the existing platform.
The Prayagraj Metrolite, formerly Allahabad Metro, is a proposed light rail system for the city of Prayagraj (Allahabad), Uttar Pradesh, India. The proposed system will consist of two lines, an east–west line from Manauri to Trivenipuram, and a north–south line from Shantipuram in Jalalapur to Karchana. Both lines will be about 20 kilometres (12 mi) long. There will be a total of 39 stations, 20 on the east–west line and 19 on the north–south line. The project is expected to cost ₹8000 crore.
