Manila Grey (stylized as MANILA GREY) are a Canadian R&B duo from Vancouver, British Columbia. [1] They are most noted for receiving a Juno Award nomination for Breakthrough Group of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2021. [2]

Consisting of Filipino Canadian singer Soliven and rapper GhostrideNeeko, [3] they formed in 2016. [4] Their debut EP, No Saints Under Palm Shade, was released in 2017, [5] and was followed by their full-length album No Saints Loading in 2019, accompanied by their hit single “Silver Skies”. [1] In 2020, they released the singles "Shibuya" and "Blue Vegeta", both previews of their forthcoming second album No Saints on Knight Street [6] which was subsequently released on March 26, 2021. [7]

Part of the release of the album No Saints on the Knight, Myx [8] states that Manila Grey worked with one of Philippine's celebrity and fellow artists James Reid (actor) on the song 'Backhouse Ballin.' The article adds that both Manila Grey and Reid had an opportunity to perform at Universal CityWalk. This performance marks "...a huge step for Filipino artist crossing globally as our music gain exposure" quoted by Manila Grey from the same article. Entertainment Tonight Canada [9] published an article on April 13, 2023, about how Manila Grey shares their experience as first generations musicians finding success in music and starting from nothing. Manila Grey released their fourth album Sound Drift which features the single 'Motherland' a nod to their Filipino heritage and where they came from.

Career

Manila Grey formed in early 2016 and released their first single "1z" on October 2, 2016, produced by long-time collaborator Azel North. [10]

Palm Dreams is the debut studio album by Filipino-Australian singer-actor James Reid. It was released digitally and physically on July 8, 2017 under his own label Careless Music Manila, distributed by Viva Records. The album was funded, executive produced, and creative directed by Reid, who also wrote all of the lyrics and melodies. The bulk of music production was handled by Paulo Tiongson, who goes by the stage name of "Poor Taste"; aside from the opening track "Turning Up", which was produced by Bojam of Flipmusic.

"Turning Up" is a song recorded by Filipino-Australian singer-actor James Reid, for his debut studio album Palm Dreams (2017). The song was released on September 22, 2017 as a second single from the record and was published by Careless Music Manila and released by Viva Records. The song was written and produced by Reid. An accompanying music video was released on the same day.

Careless, formerly known as Careless Music Manila, is a record label in the Philippines started by singer and actor James Reid and Bret Jackson (KINGwAw). The label was founded in 2017, with Reid's Palm Dreams as its debut release. The label was initially partnered with Reid's former label, Viva Records, but went independent in 2019. Its current roster of artists include Reid, Massiah, Jolianne, Lesha, SOS, August Waah, Liza Soberano, and dance crew A-Team.

Zack Nimrod D. Tabudlo is a Filipino singer, songwriter, musician, and producer. Tabudlo has collaborated with fellow artists like Sharlene San Pedro, Moira Dela Torre, James Reid, and Al James. He was first seen as a contestant on the first season of The Voice Kids under Bamboo Mañalac's mentorship, where he was eliminated in the competition's second round. He later began his musical career in 2018 before he rose to fame in 2020 when he joined MCA Music through sub-label Island Records Philippines.
