Lieutenant general Manjinder Singh, AVSM, YSM, VSM is a serving general officer of the Indian Army. He currently serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief South Western Command. [3] [4] He previously held the appointment of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Army Training Command. [5] He earlier served as the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Perspective Planning & Financial Development) at HQ IDS, [6] prior to this he was General Officer Commanding XVI Corps. [7] He also served as Chief of Staff of the Western Command. [8] The general officer is also the COLONEL of the MADRAS REGIMENT since 01 Jan 2021. [9]
The general officer is an alumnus of Sainik School, Kapurthala. He then attended the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. [9] He obtained other military courses from various institutions such as Defence Services Staff College, Higher Command Course and National Defence College of Thailand. [10]
He was commissioned into 19th Battalion of the Madras Regiment on 20 December 1986 from the Indian Military Academy. [9] In his distinguished and illustrious military career spanning over 30 years, he has the distinction of tenanting important and challenging command and staff appointments in Jammu & Kashmir and on the Western Front. He commanded his battalion in an intense counter-insurgency environment in Jammu and Kashmir, and tenanted varied staff appointments in Corps and Commands along the Western Front. [11] He was also appointed as a commanding officer for Insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir, infantry brigade at the Line of Control (LOC) and an Infantry Division as part of Strike Corps. [10] and a Corps deployed along Line of Control in Counter Insurgency Operations in J&K. The General Officer has tenanted varied staff appointments in Corps and Commands along the Western Front and in the Counter Insurgency Operations environment. The general Officer has also been as an instructor at the Indian Military Academy and Commandant Indian Military Training Team Bhutan. [12] He has also served as the MGGS (Ops) at Headquarters of the Western Command [13]
After being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General, he was appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Western Command. [14] On 29 October 2021, he took over as the General Officer Commanding of White Knight Corps (XVI) from Lieutenant General M.V. Suchindra Kumar. [7] On 1 December 2023, he took over as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Army Training Command succeeding Lieutenant General Surinder Singh Mahal who superannuated on 30 November 2023. [15]
He assumed the appointment of General Officer Commanding-in-Chief South Western Command on 1 July 2024 succeeding Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth who moved to Southern Command as Army Commander. [3]
On Republic Day 2024, the general officer was awarded with the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, [16] in 2015 he was awarded the Yudh Seva Medal and the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2019.

General Joginder Jaswant Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC is an Indian politician and former Army Chief. He was the 21st Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Indian Army. He was appointed on 27 November 2004, and took over the role when his predecessor, General N C Vij, retired on 31 January 2005. He was succeeded by General Deepak Kapoor. He served as the COAS from 31 January 2005, to 30 September 2007.
The XVI Corps, or the White Knight Corps, is a corps of the Indian Army raised on 1 June 1972 with Lieutenant General J F R Jacob as its first General Officer Commanding (GOC). It has its headquarters at Nagrota Cantonment,, Jammu and Kashmir. In 2005, IX Corps was raised in southern part of the XVI Corps' area, taking over two of its divisions.
General Dalbir Singh Suhag, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC is the former Indian High Commissioner to Seychelles and a former Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army. He was the 25th Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Indian Army, serving from 31 July 2014 to 31 December 2016, and Vice Chief of the Army Staff prior to that.
