It was founded in 1997 by Executive Director Ron Manners. [1] Since its founding, Mannkal has sent 500 students to various conferences in Australia and overseas. [1]

Mannkal aims to "strengthen the free market system in Western Australia and Australia, by promoting ideals of voluntary co-operation, choice, personal rights, limited government and responsible resourcefulness of individuals." [3] It does this by financing and organising:

Adam Smith Institute British neoliberal think tank and lobby group

The Adam Smith Institute (ASI) is a neoliberal think tank and lobbying group based in the United Kingdom and named after Adam Smith, a Scottish moral philosopher and classical economist. The libertarian label was officially changed to neoliberal on 10 October 2016. The Institute advocates free market and classical liberal ideas, primarily via the formation of policy options with regard to public choice theory, which political decision makers seek to develop upon. ASI President Madsen Pirie has sought to describe the activity of the organisation as "[w]e propose things which people regard as being on the edge of lunacy. The next thing you know, they're on the edge of policy".

The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) is a right-wing think tank and UK registered charity associated with the New Right. The IEA describes itself as an "educational research institute". It says that it seeks to "further the dissemination of free-market thinking", and that it does so by "analysing and expounding the role of markets in solving economic and social problems." The IEA subscribes to a right-wing and neoliberal worldview and advocates positions based on this ideology, including climate change denial, and total privatisation, in effect abolition, of the National Health Service (NHS), in favour of a healthcare system the IEA says is similar to Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Israel. The IEA is funded by the tobacco industry, and IEA officers have been recorded offering "cash for access". The IEA is headquartered in Westminster, London, England.

The Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) is a conservative non-profit free market public policy think tank based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Urban Institute Washington D.C.-based think tank

The Urban Institute is a Washington, D.C.–based think tank that carries out economic and social policy research to "open minds, shape decisions, and offer solutions". The institute receives funding from government contracts, foundations and private donors. The Urban Institute measures policy effects, compares options, shows which stakeholders get the most and least, tests conventional wisdom, reveals trends, and makes costs, benefits, and risks explicit. The Urban Institute has been referred to as "nonpartisan", "liberal", and "left-leaning". In 2020, the Urban Institute co-hosted the second annual Sadie T.M. The Menzies Research Centre Ltd is an Australian public policy think tank. It was founded in 1994 and is named in honour of Sir Robert Menzies, the founder of the Liberal Party of Australia and Australia's longest-serving Prime Minister. It is the think-tank of the Liberal Party of Australia.

Manners was one of the founders of the Workers Party, subsequently known as the Progress Party, and is a co-founder of ANDEV, a lobby group chaired by co-founder Gina Rinehart. Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs

The TJ Ryan Foundation is the only progressive (left-leaning) think tank specifically focussing on Queensland public policy.
